Starred messages in PM

There may be a post already asking about this...if so feel free to put a link in the comments. I have little attention span and so usually do not spend too much energy looking before just asking.

But what does a star next to a message in your PM's mean. I didn't "star" a message. I do not even know how to "star" a message.

Just curious as I hate not being able to figure out things.

When you send a PM, you can choose stars, hearts, etc.
