The 'Social Skills and Making Friends Forum'

What are the sentiments on the 'Social Skills and Making Friends Forum?'

From the responses (or most notably, the lack of resposes) in discussion-threads, I sense people have become discouraged - hence diffculties in both best particpating here on WP, and better understanding, and meeting the challenges of social skills, and making friends.

The sentiments of WP members (such as myself) who favor proactive approaches to better understanding, and meeting the challenges of social skills and making freinds are terribly under-represented here on WP.

From the perspectives of WP staff, what might better encourage proactive sentiments to play larger roles here on WP?

Two of many examples of WP discussion-threads whose purpose is to "break the ice" so to speak?"

* 'Doubts, Bad-Experiences, Etc. Yet.....(RE-EDIT)'

* 'Posting About Personal Social Experiences.'

I don't think people have become discouraged from discussing everyday social skills, it's just that most the regular members here are too busy bickering in the L&D about men Vs women.

'L & D' is an abbreviation for 'Learning & Development' - workplace programs.

It's a given that people are busy with workplace-based agendas. It's also important to boost social interactions outside of the workplace. The enclosed STORY offers good advice - even if one is not relocating to a new-town.

On Wrong Planet the acronym "L&D" refers to the "Love and Dating" forum - rather like "GAD" refers to the "General Autism Discussion" forum.

Have you seen how many active discussion threads there are on WP?
Just because people aren't posting in the Social Skills forum doesn't mean they aren't being 'proactive' elsewhere.
I think of the Social Skills and Making Friends forum as the place you can post if you're having specific problems with friendships or meeting people.
Otherwise, it doesn't really interest me.

I think of the Social Skills and Making Friends forum as the place you can post if you're having specific problems with friendships or meeting people.

The active-discussion-threads occasionally include discussion-threads on what may be proactive approaches in social skills, friendships. Any specific discusison-threads?

It might be helpful to boost discussions in less-active WP forums outisde of the 'Social Skills and Making Friends Forum.'

I would have thought any discussion thread would be a proactive approach to social skills.
People are communicating with each other and forming connections.

What do you mean by 'boosting' discussions?
Why not let discussions unfold naturally?
If people are interested, they'll post.
'Boosting' discussions seems like flogging a dead horse.

The objective is to 'boost' discussions on favorable experiences with social skills and friendships - that is the confidence, and personal growth to make social-skills, and friendships actaully......h-a-p-p-e-n. Again, such experiences remain a rarity here on WP.
