Not Receiving PMs

A friend sent me a couple of PMs, and after they were sent, they didn't show up in outbox or in sent messages. I never received them. What could account for this?

Now I'm wondering if I might not have received messages from other people.

The PM system seems fully functional.
I've just sent you a test PM - it's currently sitting in my outbox as expected.

Yep - I watched it move to the "Sent" folder.

I can't think what happened with those other PMs - the only way that would normally happen is if they weren't actually sent.

A local network issue might have caused problems because the mailboxes reside on the WP server.
If the connection between your friend and the server dropped briefly as the PMs were sent I guess they could vanish as a result and not appear in their outbox or sent messages - but that would need some pretty specific timing and doesn't factor in any automatic retries, typically made on network errors.

Yes it happened twice. As soon as I sent them, they vanished from my Outbox and Sent, and even if I hit back-page several times they didn't exist. I could get back to before writing them but not find the message itself. I checked if other tabs were open and that wasn't the case either. Totally vanished. I know TP doesn't have me blocked on PM so that's not the answer either.

Lots of other PM get through to her just fine but lately we've been writing plans for arm-wrestling contests, and ordering lots of tar and feathers. It's just really weird that this happened twice, unless of course it has something to do with our participation in the military.

I don't want this to keep me from attaining my goal of beating 57.3% of the men on WP in arm wrestling.

I'm just on the phone to hire an underwater chess referee from our local Scuba society. Then I'll help you with weight training and conditioning for your arm-wrestling event. Can you start a few warmups now? Maybe brush your hair a thousand times and set the brush down after every stroke. I hear braiding does wonders for our biceps, too.

Hmmm ... Maybe do your next hike by walking on your hands? Are you OK with handstands?

I can do headstands but not handstands.
