Hi,

It's really frustrating not being able to indent, or do italics, underline or bold.

I notice other people seem to be able to do it. Is there a trick I don't know about here?

Thanks for any help!

Type:
[]
(before word or words).
[/]
(after selected text)

Text appears in between the sets of square (not curvy like these) parentheses-I get that mixed up sometimes & then wonder why it's not working.
Inside parentheses you'd first enter "u", "i", or "b", and then in second set insert "/u", "/i", or "/b". As in, [*]text[/*], except instead of * it would be a letter.

If you hold your mouse, w/o pressing buttons-just letting it rest over the part of screen where the "b", "u", and "i" appear-in the "post reply" window, it shows example of how to underline, italicize, or bold.

Wow! Thank you very much for the help. Being very technologically challenged, and not on the internet much until recently, I did not know that there was a whole different mode of print (other than the aptly provided smiley faces).
I really appreciate the clear break-down. :)

As you post...

You'll find that the toolbar at the top of the text box works.

At the left are the smileys. Click on "View more Emoticons" for more.

Down the bottom are some options, which you can actually set defaults for those, in your profile. I tend to tick just the second pair.

To the bottom left corner are "Options", where "BBCode" will take you to a help page.

Finally, there's the WP FAQ.

yes, i see...

It's not strange at all that I should have gone all this time without noticing that or figuring this out.
