A suggestion. How about a sole spot for anime?

So, I have noticed that in the description for the section "Off the wall: Forum games, Quizzes, Roleplaying, etc." that it starts off with the sentence: "Do you enjoy anime roleplaying as your favorite action character?" And this is nice. It's an inviting sentence that makes me think: "Hey, this may be the section for me." However when I enter that section, it's filled with things that really are hardly anime related. In fact, I had once posted an anime RP idea there, which due to the amount of "games" and other different activities posted, was buried underneath a sea of posts. Now, I don't care that the post was buried, nor do I even care if anyone saw it. But, looking at the situation as a whole, there really isn't a section specifically for anime, or for fans of anime, on this site. So, when something is posted there that is anime related, no one gets a chance to see it, as people post more "Let's count to x" type games there than anything else.

I think it would be a good idea to open up an anime section under the Topical Discussion section of the forums here on WP, just because it would be nice to have a place to go to discuss anime/manga, and talk about favorite shows, characters, maybe have a couple of anime rp's, and just have a fun time communicating with other people about anime. I know it certainly would attract more members like myself, and the users here on WP would surely be grateful. :) I'm just saying that other topics have their own section, and they're not just lumped in with another section. So, it would make quite the amount of sense to add an anime section. I mean sure, I could go to another forum for that, but I feel more comfortable here (where everyone knows my diagnosis and I don't have to be afraid of talking about stuff about autism), besides the fact that many anime based forums can be harsh, and hard to really get into discussions when people don't consider your viewpoints. So, take some time, consider it, maybe mull it over some. It may be a while until you come up with a decision, but that's okay. I figured I would at least give a suggestion, as I haven't seen any others suggesting an anime section yet. I mean it wouldn't be a bad idea, and I think people would take kindly to it. Anyways, enough of me rambling. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for being so open to suggestions. :)

If there were to be a new section like that including books in there would be a good idea, not really a true section for books.

Anime, Manga & Comics would probably be more appropriate.
How about a section for those? :)

There could definitely be some new sections in general. I am sure the religious folks would appreciate a Spirituality sub-forum, for example, since PPR does not promote spiritual discussion (it does after all, refer to "Religion" and thus all the baggage associated with that word)

I'm all for an anime section. I've had a hard time talking about anime in general.

I don't know if there are enough anime-enthusiastic WP'ers to warrant a whole subsection dedicated to it, but the Anime, Manga and Comics seems sound to me.

Alex is working on the new version of the site at the moment, so he may include more sub forums. Dunno.

The temporary sticky for animals and pets isn't very active and what's posted is mostly pictures. Nothing wrong with that but it doesn't seem to indicate much general membership interest beyond being another images thread.
Likewise "The Theist Sanctuary" thread, which started with enthusiastic support before petering out after only 15 pages.

That may be because it was immediately used as a springboard to criticize PPR members and discuss religiously controversial or offensive topics without having to put up with people questioning them. So it went downhill pretty fast and people that actually wanted to talk about spiritual things such as life events and their relation to their God or whatnot, ended up being the ones who lost out. I think people should be able to talk about those things in a place outside of the PPR that is not for debate- that means that religiously controversial topics should be limited to PPR, while spiritually neutral discussions can occur without those pesky PPR goons getting in the way. Just my opinion. I doubt anyone expects that view from me, but remember, I'm not actually a part of the Strident Atheists!

Hmm, I don't really know what happened there: it just seemed to run out of steam.
It was Ok initially but staggered a bit around page 8 as the nature of belief started to get discussed, there was a derailment around page 10, back on track by page 13 discussing interesting aspects of various beliefs, but then faded away and expired on page 15 - Apr 09, 2012; somewhat ironically with a post celebrating resurrection.

Well yeah! A thread is not a section, one has to check back through the whole thread every time to see what's new. With a section one just check right away. I start new threads rather than tack on to an already long thread.

I mean really, pets are just more popular than anime, and it kind of dis to put another in front of a "Pets and Animals" section. While I even worked in such industries, I am beginning to wonder about the genres of comics and anime in general.

Or simply use update alerts which will tell you.

Yes, I get this - it's not really possible to start a discussion on say, dog food when all you can do is tack it onto the end of a long thread and I do understand how this makes a poor-man's forum at best. It just becomes a thread consisting of interwoven topics.
But as far as I know, no-one has even tried raising specific topics: it's just been pictures, and I would have hoped for some sort of discussion to start which would have given us some sort of indication of a broad requirement.

Alas we have no abilities to create forums and Alex prefers to keep them lean-n-mean.
Maybe there will be more in the new forum software version, and it would be very nice if moderators were allowed to create at least a limited number of sub-forums as required.
