Last night i got a message telling me that read something like:

Quote:
"Tor users are not allowed to post, please contact the administrator"

I am not using Tor or anything else and i checked around what the cause would be. What i noticed when i googled my IP Adress was that the adress i had recieved later on that night from the DHCP server after a restart, was reported for spamming through an open anonymous (Tor?) node 10 hours earlier.

This is ofcourse a minor nuisance since i can just go to sleep and some poor sod get the IP Adress, but it did block me from posting.

Today i can post again, obviously.

I do understand why you need an "anonymous blocker" and check lists for offending ip adresses but it does not change the fact that i am not using Tor, which i was accused of using...

Chuckle.. or maybe not...

It so happens I added an entry about Tor to the FAQ, just a week ago....
Wrong Planet FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

However, it is worrying that you, Ichinin, are yet another victim of people who misuse the Tor setup (by acting as exit nodes when they do not have static IP addresses).

Topic in that thread: putting people on "ignore" ?

Ahwell, i did read the FAQ, but i only briefly read through it thinking it was only "the usual stuff" for a community.

Guess a second look wont hurt.

This has happened to me, upon resetting my router several times to force it to change to another IP I got around it, I wasn't using Tor either, I never do nor do I see a need for it

I wouldn't imagine tor would work to well with this site. Tor is somewhat slow and this site is slow. It doesn't seem like the two would work out well together.

If someone found an exit node that wasn't blocked they can restrict their traffic to it IIRC, at least until WP identifies it. What would be a bit of a pain is writing something that can identify which tor nodes are recognized and which aren't.
