Mine is the Mustangs--it was originally the Indians, but at the request of the ACLU, it was changed to the Mustangs. The ACLU was more offended by the name than the Kiowa and Comanche tribes who live in that area.

Elementary (K-5): Panthers
Intermediate (6-8): Hornets
High School (9-12): Eagles
Jr. College: Ravens

I did see your follow-up post, but before that, I only saw the post above and thought your school mascot was Tim! err. you! :lmao:

I was wondering about the story of how you became your school's mascot.. now I'm dissappointed I was wrong :(

Elementary school - Stanton Stallions(El Paso, Texas)
Jr. High - Sanderson Eagles (Sanderson, Texas)
High School Freshman year- Sanderson Eagles
High School last three years - Irvin Rockets (El Paso, Texas)

First Community College... none

U.S.ARMY 82nd Airborne - The Jumping Junkies (lot's of drug use back in the post-vietnam era).(I know it's not a school but the name is interesting... plus it's just one of the nicknames we had at the time)

University - UAF Nanooks (University of Alaska at Fairbanks)

College(currently) - College of the Redwoods Corsairs (Humboldt County California Eureka Campus)

I'm not disparaging your mascot, but I often wonder where in the world some of these ideas for mascots come from?

Your's looks like Oscar the happy Grouch on a vespa. How is that connected with the name, "Patriot"?

There's plenty other I have seen over the years.
My daughter's HighSchool mascot is the Husky.
We live in Northern California... where'd they get a husky from? Those dogs generally are used in colder climes.

Some are downright comical... The Slugs... The Crabs... etc.

In High School, it is me. I put on "Christian the Colt", and its history goes back to several other eccentrics, including my Aunt.

Well Mason is pretty young 50 years old so we don't have set traditions like most colleges out there.

Gunston was the name of the birth place of George Mason a true American Patriot (Gunston Hall, VA) and note he is wearing a patriot hat on top of his head.

Though many at Mason dislike Gunston for not fully representing the word Patriot.

He is a little unorthodox but so is Mason with its traditions so pretty much makes sense to have an unorthodox mascot.

I like him because he represent Mason's unorthodox traditions and what we believe in as a whole university with our own style.

tradition says its a bear.

ASC wants it to be the Fox.

In my first elementary school it was a tiger, the second elementary school was a shark, and now in middle school it's a roadrunner. Specifically the roadrunner from Loony Tunes XD
