Hello, How are you?
I have a problem. I am able to remember any facts instantly, but in classes like Spanish I have a lot of problems. My school doesn't know anything about my Asperger's because i am a senior and will only be here a year more.

I think maybe Spanish is bad for me, since I already have problems with communication(talking) and Spanish class is pure talking. Writing I can do just fine. Another thing is, she repeats herself a lot, about the only thing besides mac computers and bright lights that sets me off. Every time we get a new vocabulary list I almost go insane as she says the words eight to ten times, since most people need to hear it again and again to remember.

Does anyone know what I can do about this? Should I say something, or should I just be quiet for the last half of my last year?

Thank you and sorry for more questions.

That's tough. I always did well in language classes, but that's because I always saw them as logic problems rather than linguistics (thus my speech tends towards the very formal when I'm not paying attention). The repeating is annoying, you're right - but I have a tendency to tune out teachers anyway, since they're catering to the rest of the class, and spend my time studying the books or reading material.

Good luck!

If I was you, I would confront the teacher and tell her that your having a little trouble without mentioning your aspergers, and maybe see if you can stay alittle bit later and get extra help. If you cant verbally express it to her, write her a note and slip it into her mailbox in the teachers lounge. If you feel that its better to tell her about your aspergers do that as well. Hope this helps.

I know on my own experince, and also documented by others that it is impossible to learn in stress. It would be good if you could let it go. Forget about the annoyance and try not to be obsessed with it. Deep breathing, not looking at the teacher could help.

ChefJenny: Thank you for replying. Yeah. I know the actual language stuff, I love language actually and I am learning Japanese kanji now on my own. I love Japan with the fiery burning passion of a thousand suns. I don't actually know how to tune out things, either it happens because I am completely engrossed in whatever I may be doing, or it doesn't happen. But reading might help.

Age160: Thank you for your advise, but I am not sure the teachers care. I mentioned it in Spanish 1 and they got made and said I was trying to look superior... I might try that, though she seems pretty set in her ways. She is actually owning a mallet to bang on her desk to make everyone be quiet, even when no one is talking. Urgh.

StrangeGirl: Thank you for the suggestions. Those advices seem very doable and worth a try. I will see how they go tomorrow.
