I have noticed that I need to solely use spiral notebooks, because otherwise my stuff will get pretty messy. If I use binders, I'll just put a bunch of stuff in the sides of the binder and then have to organize it later, if I ever do at all. So I try to use spiral notebooks whenever possible, but I think I need to devise some system that works for organizing the handouts that I get in my classes and/or study guides I might right for myself on separate paper. I probably need a spiral and a folder for every class, and just never use binders if at all possible.

On the other hand I can usually remember where I put my stuff, and it is only occasionally that I'll have to spend a long time looking for a paper. So it is not so bad.

As far as my handwriting goes I can read it, and in an exam, I can make sure that my professor can read it, so that is all that matters. I do tend to doodle, but that is only because I get bored in some classes.

Mine are . . . kinda special. Yeah. That's a good way of saying that.

my texts and notebooks are stuffed with papers in no order, my room is litter with them
but
i know where everything is mentally so i see no problem
i'll have things from different classes in other books but i know if i need to look at the stuff where I put it
it would seem as though i'm completely unorganized but because i am well organized mentally, i can skip the external order

anybody else?

oh, and how's your handwriting
EVERYTHING related to organization is scary 8O

Special - good one. I'm going to have to start using that, if you don't mind :)

I exclusively use spiral notebooks. I get them for about $0.75 to $1 apiece in bulk (100 sheet college rules 8.5x11) in 3 or 4 different colors.

I briefly tried to keep them separate and color coded by subject, but that fell through pretty quickly because I just shove them in my backpack turned to the current page (so the colored cover is hidden) and I just pull one out at random when I need it. Yeah. So there's like, english lit notes on one page and some weird partial differential equations on the next.

Mess, if I even bother to write in them. It's chaos and I never go back and read it anyway, not that I could either :-D My handwriting is bad enough that I sometimes can't read it myself. Someone said something about signatures and I agree - I just write my name. It looks formal enough. I've never been questioned about it.

Papers are shoved in the back until I forget they're there. I'll write down notes but mostly sketch sci-fi stuff. The cover of one of my notebooks has a badly-drawn duck and the words "Quack Quack Quack" written in large letters with a sharpie.

Feel free. :)

Mostly I keep the the same subjects limited to specific notebooks, but on average, I'm always short on money for notebooks, so I improvise. I'll use a one subject notebook for 2 subjects. I just write it in for one, and then turn it upside down and write in the back for another. Meh.

As for my handwriting, this past semester I taught myself to write with my non-dominant hand. Now my handwriting's neater. Not only that, but I can take notes and draw at the same time now. :) Keeps me out of trouble.
