i'm going to be going to university in 2009. i've scanned the internet to find out how people have coped and some of its been really negative. so i'd love to hear from anyone else in the same situation or already at uni. i'd also like to talk to anyone with aspergers, just for general chit-chat.
thanks

Congratulations! College is a lot of fun and you'll be exposed to many interesting new fields and viewpoints. Do you know what you plan to study as of yet?

I don't have Aspergers, but I do know of an interesting source that may be of use to you:

Hey, how are you?

I'll be attending university soon enough.

Not looking forward to it at all, honestly.

Tell us about yourself!

People, classes, schedules, giant buildings, interruptions, fear of failure, paradoxical inflated sense of self-worth...

Don't worry, you'll fall into routine soon enough. However, my idiot fellow students are still something I have yet to get used to.

I'm starting Uni in September. While I'm not sure if I have Aspergers or not I'm still a little worried about it. Do you know where you will be staying? I don't fancy staying in the halls, so have been looking for a small flat for myself.

thanks for your replies! i'm hoping to go to UEA and study french with something else. I'll probably be commuting, but have thought about trying the halls of residence. not sure if that's a good idea though, i'm prone to depression...any thoughts?
i'm really looking forward to going there, but terrified of leaving school!
has anyone tried staying away from home?
thanks!

I started going to uni in 05 (holy s**t, has it really been that long? God I feel old, anyway) I have to say I have enjoyed it quite a bit. I think I got rather depressed my first semester as I seemed to have difficulty making friends, and especially with girls, but I got over it, and now I do not get nearly as depressed as I used to, even though I still do occasionally. I lived in the reshalls. I would recommend it for anyone going to uni for the first time as it's a great way to make friends, and some of the best friends I have now are people who were living next door to me my first semester. Just be yourself and be somewhat open, you should not have too much trouble making friends.
