I always used to sit at the back as I could never have anybody behind after the s**t I went through in high school. I still get a homicidal adrenaline rush whenever I suspect somebody is doing anything behind me.

I sit up front because I like doing that a lot and it shows how hard working I'm for my classes.

I sit at the front, I seem to have a problem with concentrating my eyes so it is just easier, I like to work a bit and it is just easier.

I always chose one or prefered one with my back against a wall. I always felt vulnerable if s**ts were behind me which is all I can think of referring to the crudheads i was at school with thirty five years ago. I also had to be as far away as poss from those kids who were liable to cause me problems. I hated school. I was told I was dragged there crying for the whole first year! Happy days uh? It got worse, by the time I was fifteen I had stopped speaking for the last two years until I left aged sixteen and a half.

I am phobic abt rooms other than my own house. Some spook me, some I feel okay in. Needless to say I never enter rooms other than my own. Libraries are hell, pubs a no-no...........u get the picture. This is my first comment at wrongplanet.

I usually sit where the teacher can't see me, that way I can sleep, or daydream.

I feel very uncomfortable sitting down right next to someone (other than close friends or people I generally end up sitting near anyway), so I try to pick a seat not directly next to/in front of/behind anyone already seated. (It doesn't bother me if others sit down next to me afterwards, just I don't like sitting down next to them.) I also do my best to get a really clear view of the board and the teacher (this includes finding a place where the teacher least obscures the board). Then I try to sit in the same place every day, which is difficult.

Why do you take fire alarms into account? (just curious) I hate the sound they make. It makes me want to scream with them. Also some vacuum cleaners, but that's an entirely different thing.

The front row close to the door so I see can see the professor and hear the lecture. It feels like a distraction when I sit behind alot of people.

I'm a creature of habit, like the same seat all the time. I usually sit near the front of the class or lecture theatre and on the right. This way I can hear what is going on and pretend like there aren't 30 other people there watching me. Fire alarms never cross my mind. Next to a window and away from a heater is nice though.

I don't like to spend too much time picking a seat, so I usually just pick the first seat that catches my eye. Preferably somewhere toward the middle of the class, near the front but not right in the front row, unless I don't like the class then it will probably be somewhere a little further back. If there are already other people in the class I will try to pick somewhere that is not next to someone else if possible, but I will not spend a large amount of time scanning the room for such a seat, so if I don't spot one quickly, I will just bite the bullet and sit next to someone.

No.... it's gonna be loud and it's gonna hurt like hell no matter where I sit. I usually just sit in the same seat out of routine... front row, farthest to the left. I need to be in the front row because of my sight and hearing problems, and the furthest from the left thing started in 9th grade and never quite stopped. Only if it's already taken will I find another seat, though I really don't like having to sit farther back than the second row at most.

I used to always sit in the front row, just to the right of center, i.e. if there is a center aisle, the seat farthest to the left on the right side. However I got messed up when I started going to classes without center aisles, and this forced me to be more flexible in my seating choices. It's annoying really :).

Most classes I end up in the front row. That way I can see the board better and stuff like that.

Some classes that I'm just blowing off and don't really want/need to pay attention to the lecture, I sit in the back. That way I'm not offending the prof by not paying attention and playing with my phone - hopefully :)

When I was an undergrad I took great care when entering the lecture hall not to make eye contact with anyone I'd previously attempted to converse with. I would then try to find a seat that was relatively isolated but not conspicuously so. I would also make sure I had a clear run to the exit in case my bowels started playing up. I never gave the fire exits too much thought.

Most of the time, my favorite place to sit would be the seat furthest from the entry door. It would happen to be in the back of the room, next to the window, so I could daydream :drunken: in peace while I'd hide my face behind a book. :study:
