lunatix, hey I'm into fixing things, too. For me it's doors that are my favorite to repair. I seem to do a better job on hinged swinging than the 'Pros at times when it comes to commercial settings. I'm 21, Female, and live in N.J. I found it very useful to know about fixing things. It made me feel useful and helpful to most people.

I also enjoy correcting sentences.

My big passion is war.
All wars up til the end of ww2 interest me.
The times when it was still about building great empires.

So for fun i play every kind of realistic wargame on my pc, preferably online.
And watch every single warmovie or series that comes out.
Though i feel there are never enough coming out.

Some warmovies suck though.
The american holywood propoganda ones where like 1-4 american ones slaughter like half the german army.
Stalingrad is good, it's realistic because every single main role player ends up dead.
No happy ending in such a cruel war.

Since about 16 i started to get another interest.
Getting buffed 8)
Though it always seems to be a few month periods when i workout hardcore until i get lazy and forget about it.

Since 21 i'm also verry much into politics and the news.

Although it's probably not as prominent as it was in the years just after the Second World War, I think I'm obsessed with the concept of social class in the UK.

I find that I'm very interested in the Lower Class accents of England, such as Cockney, Geordie and Scouse Speech Patterns. They do something to me that nothing else, other than Austin Powers can do.

My interests? Well, let me see, since they came and went through my childhood. Nowadays, I have a general interest in computers and a deep interest for socialist politics, and an intense passion for rivers.

I had an interest in numbers when I was very young. Hardly remember, though. Only details from what my parents have told me, though I do remember playing with dice and numbering floor tiles at a young age. Maybe that's where my interest in computers began.

I later had a deep interest in chemicals, which was sort of strange for a boy in six and seventh grade. That sort of persisted for years.

Through my childhood, I doubt if I can remember all of my intense interests. They sort of went by quickly within a time frame of about six months. By intense, I mean, there are strong dissociative qualities that go along with them, like applying human-like characteristics and keeping pictures of them around or near me at all times. I even set pictures of them up on a table and watch television with them, bizarrely enough.

Some of these interests have included: bears, dogs, ocean waves, fish, fractions (directly from math), cars, wood, and most likely a few more that I can't remember, with rivers being the most consistent one nowadays which doesn't seem to ebb completely, just change in intensity from time to time.

I remember being really obsessed with Star Wars action figures as a kid (about 9-11 years old). As in, I would make lists of all the figures in the order they were released and look up case assortments online. I remember very distinctly telling people in show and tell about the new figures that were going to be released in the upcoming months. My immense collection is sitting in my parents' house right now, waiting for me to decide if I'm going to keep it or sell it to a comic book shop or something. I guess it doesn't help that I opened all my figures, but seeing as I was a kid, that was probably inevitable.

I also remember knowing all sorts of things about astronomy at a very early age.... to the point where the people at a local telescope store were quite impressed with me. I actually taught myself to read when I was 3 years old so I could read some children's books about that sort of thing. Isaac Asimov's Library of the Universe = good times.

Right now, I don't really have any interests that are all that abnormal for someone my age. Sure, I have a certain fetish for Greek and Roman literature/philosophy/etc, but that's more or less what I'm studying in school, so that's probably a good thing. I do memorize the exact order of South Park episodes and tracklistings and release dates of albums by bands I like, but those are slightly more "normal" interests, so I can usually pass as just being someone who really likes South Park, Pink Floyd, or whatever. Oh! And like some people above me, I'm quite obsessed with the U.S. Interstate system. It's nice, it's big, it's convenient, it was built around the same time... fascinating. Before I die, I'd like to drive across the country using primarily Interstates.

I was just like that when I was younger, I learned to shut up though.

Anyway my interests come and fade, at one point in time or another, I was obsessed with:
- astronomy when I was 6. I would memorize the names of moons of each planet, their distances from the sun, diameter, etc.
- downloading stuff I didn't need and my mom would get mad for tying up the phone.
- the Mac OS X theme, Aqua (It's so cool!).
- holography and holograms. However, due to the fact that it is very difficult to obtain materials for holography where I live, this interest soon faded.
- retro video games from the 80s. I got teased for that, like the other boys would say, "But it's 2D! Man, you are weird!"

"So when engaged in a conversation with a person who doesn't know me very well, I often get "Howdoyouknowthat"/"whatareyoutalkingabout" kind of looks. "

I know this very well. I've had a professor who's had to ask the class if they knew what I was actually talking about.

At the moment, I seem to be on Sonic. I joined a fan community, left when I got sick of the politics. Played the games, and researched what character does what and how. Ironically, I like Sonic Adventure Battle 2 the best. I actually have the goal of getting all 180 emblems, and I have 93 now.
(Obviously, I hide this one from people. :!: )
I've had an on and off interest in Japan. I've had a couple of college professors think I was nuts. (I chose commodore Perry, who opened Japan up to the west, when the speech class decided to do people.) The record time I've talked about it was 3 hours and I did not get through half of what I know. I want to go to Harajuku on sunday in Toyko when I have $$$$.

Art, but only specific kinds of art. Pre-raphealite is a huge favorite of mine, along with art of faeries, but less so. I also like ukiyo-e, which are Japanese wood block prints. I also like Anime art. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukiyo-e I guess my art interests are like having green day next to enya in my cd collection.

My past obsessions were mainly video games, Earthworm Jim probably being the most obscure one. I still have all the action figures in the basement and recorded the episodes. The funny thing was that I met someone with an evil the cat tattoo last year at my job. That was cool.

My interest is in cutting-edge weaponry that didn't really make it past the experimental stage. You know, like the STG-44, the H&K G11, the OICW, etc.

I'm a HUUUGE Sonic fan, and I get picked on for it all the time, I hear comparsions of Sonic to games not even REMOTLEY like it, I get laughed at, gangs of people try to get me mad by saying "Sonic's crap!" at the top of their voices, and just in general try to make me feel like I don't belong on this planet

Sure it may be just a game, but it does kinda hurt, that someone could be so cruel to me just because I'm not into what they are

What about you guys?

I'm a Sonic lover too.

I am obsessed with toilet humour..not all raunchy homour, just farts and poop and toilets. i collect playmobil porta potties and bathroom sets. I read about farts and can tell many details of a fart just by the sound. i can tell the air stream and the pressure involved etc. I can not help laughing If I hear someone fart no matter how hard I try.

Math is a pretty abnormal one

I mention Bugs, but I think that one is a pretty typical one. (Hey, you can't deny that bees are pretty cute)
