Currently working on Architecture major with a Sustainable Design minor. College is a great way to find out about how the real world works and allows for us to study a subject of our interest in depth so if you have the opportunity and want to learn something new then college is a great opportunity.

there isn't a "HEALTH" category? eg. doc, nurse, dentistry, physiotherapy etc...

I'm doing dentistry at the moment...
which sucks when I see patient, I never know how to do those "small talks" with them, but good that my clinical partner can do the job =)

I had to pick "other" because I'm a music major, and I didn't see it listed. ^^;

I'm not sure what I'm going to DO with my degree - I'm thinking of getting a minor in psychology and going on to get certification as a therapist so I can do music therapy. Of course, I'm not even sure I'll graduate at this point, or use my degree if I do, which makes me wonder why I'm even doing this. I've been in college for four years already, switching from major to major, and I need to just graduate already. I think I'm taking so long partially because "life after school" is utterly terrifying. I can't see myself outside the university system, and I've been pretty much incapable of holding down a job - I've stopped going to two because I couldn't handle the social aspect of it (both were service jobs - one fast food, one in the mall), and I was terrified every day before I went, and burnt out after I left.

That kinda describes me. Ive had 4 different majors. First Computer Science then Automotive Technology, then Electrical Engineering and now Im doing massage therapy. I graduated with an AA in Automotive Technology but have never used the degree or worked on a car other than my own. I think massage therapy is going to be the right place for me. I'm really afraid of the world outside of college. I find it very hard to hold down a job. The longest job Ive ever had was for a year working at Petsmart. All of my other jobs have lasted less than 6 months. Ive had a few that lasted days before I quit or got fired. There were 3 or 4 I just stopped showing up. I didn't even call to tell them I wouldn't be in because I was terrified of talking to my manager.

I picked other since I don't have a "major" because I'm not in an american college.
I'm at sixth form college doing my A levels in Art & Design, Religious Studies and Psychology.
When I enter the second year I'm starting a course in biology instead of carrying on with art because I'm getting fed up with art now and biology seems the most interesting to me and I like the practicals (dissecting animal organs was really fun in highschool, we dissected hearts in year 10 and I just hacked it to bits, good times).

I majored in history, for the sole reason that I have an obsession with it. Admittedly, I wasn't looking for a career in teaching history while in school, when I went for my Bachelors. So, other than being an unpublished writer (an obsession with English, which I minored in), I found I've been qualified to work in a sheet metal shop, and as a pots and pans washer.

(Off-topic)

God, I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one who's done this. :cry: It's so hard to tell someone something they don't want to hear, so I just avoid it at all costs. I just freeze at the first sign of conflict because I don't know what to do.

My degree is in Information Management. In my university, this degree is shared between the Social Science and Pure Science faculties. It's accredited by CILIP, which is the UK's professional librarian organisation, and I took the degree with the intention of becoming a librarian. The reason it wasn't simply called Library Science or anything similar was because in between the cataloguing and search-and-retrieval modules were courses designed to teach us about databases, search engine functionality, how people learn and basic business stuff. As a result the students on my course have gone on to enter a wide variety of professions.

I had to put "Other" in for the poll because the subject matter crosses four of the categories in the poll and still has stuff that fits in none of them.

I nearly did enough credits in Philosophy to get it listed on my degree, but the regulations made it impossible for that to happen. Given that employers are frequently confused by my degree name, this may be for the best.
