I started college majoring in occupational therapy, but the sciences are too hard for me. So I am changing to something I'll enjoy more: art with a concentration in education; that will be my bachelors degree. Then, I'll get a master's in Special Education. It's going to set me back a couple of years because I've been working on pre-requisites for the OT program, but at least I wont fail at something that I like more.

Not sure what I'd be under in the poll, so I put Other.

I'm majoring in Digital Media, which is a subset of Journalism and Mass Communications. We're involved in web design and online journalism.

Pursuing a BS in Electrical Engineering. Electronics is, and has been for a long time, one of my "special interests" so it works out nicely.

I wanted to look into Business, but after taking some Business classes, I was bored off my mind. So when I transfer to a 4 year institution I would Major in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or maybe both, because I like computers and I would better with more hands on careers.

I'm getting a MSc in physics, specializing in quantum physics in a little less than a year.

there isn't a "HEALTH" category? eg. doc, nurse, dentistry, physiotherapy etc...

I'm doing dentistry at the moment...
which sucks when I see patient, I never know how to do those "small talks" with them, but good that my clinical partner can do the job =)

I would equate pre-med school type majors into the biology spectrum.

(massive thread bump, hi guys).

Hah, I went to a business university in New England (you can imagine the demographic of that school), but majored in Mathematical Sciences / Applied Mathematics (whatever one wants to call it, same thing really).

I had a nice dislike of finance majors, whose coursework was essentially a watered-down version of my own, except thanks to being in a business college, they got all the attention of corporate recruiters who visited campus, while I got left behind. Fun how that works :D.

It's fine, though, I'm doing fairly alright as a business analyst atm.

My degree is in Russian my second degree is in communications disorders. I still love Russian and if I could make it pay I would teach Russian literature to middle and high school kids. It totally sucks I can't get a job in that....nor could I get a teaching certificate in that. So off I go toward communications disorders........and my original minor was in biology.
BA Russian Minor Biology complete, TEFL certification, COMD BS in progress
In two years I want my MA as a SLP. Yippee but I LOVE languages........and that will always be my interest.......
Yeah I'm weird but they are very very similar............well at least the way I see it.

My undergraduate degree is in Computer Science (1987) and my graduate degree is in Business Administration (2007).

Which university do you attend? There are a lot of universities that have Computer Engineering major (a mixture of both electrical engineering and computer science). I have enjoyed it.

I encourage you to look into it.

Simple questions. Did you continue education past HS? What did you study?
And more AS-related, do you think it's important for those of us w/ AS to pursue our education as much as possible, relative to others?

At Rasmussen, for the last year and an half, I was enrolled in a BS degree in Accounting. I selected this major on the basis of potential job opportunities, however after having spent 1.5 years at Rash Mustard and funneling over $30,000 in financial aid money to them I have been thoroughly unimpressed. I'm now switching to studying subjects, such as mathematics, physics, and computer subject material, independently of an educational black hole which seems to serve itself while providing busywork to cash-cows.

Do I think it's important for those of us with AS to pursue our education as much as possible? Yes, I do, but you don't need a college to obtain an education, and certainly not an education superior to that of others enrolled in financially supporting colleges.

Actuarial Science (officially known at UConn as Mathematics-Actuarial Science). Basically financial assessment of risk. Mainly working with insurance companies to determine premiums based on different risk factors (for example a 39-year old smoker with a family history of lung cancer and heart disease would have to pay a much higher life insurance premium than a 22-year old in perfect health whose grandparents and parents are all still alive). Very stats and probability based, though I'm still a freshman and haven't taken any courses specifically in that field yet.

Don't let them flood you with generals the first few terms. That was at least tedious to me.
