I just wanted to share with everyone that I go to school online at Colorado Technical University, I actually find it so much better than a traditional college/university. For one, I never have to worry about speaking in front of others for a speech ( i HATE public speaking) and another reason is it is just more convenient for me. I am still able to make friends because this school offers its online campus a "virtual commons" area where I can join clubs and make friends in a virtual setting, there is also an internal instant messaging tool where I can talk to my instructors, friends, and classmates, along with an internal email program as well. I have tried a tradional college that was a junior college when I first graduated from high school, I was only of course 19 back then and a lot more immature back then too, but I only went half a semester and didn't do so well and never went back.

Now that going on 9 years that have gone by, and I have different priorities in my life, I wanted to go back to school. I heard about online schooling before through a lot of people and I thought I would try it out. I have been going since January of last year and I have gotten A's and B's, and like two C+'s so far and my current GPA is 3.43. I just find it so much easier to go to school online, when I went to that junior college many years ago I got a lot of C's and D's.

I am getting my Associate Degree in Medical Coding and Billing and if all goes right I will be finished in June of this year and I am so excited. I decided to go back to school because I wanted to provide a better life for my daughter who is 2 and she means everything for me and me going to school online means that I can work on my assignments on my own time (as long as it is submitted by the due date, some instructors do accept late work but they usually take points off depending on how many days late it is, I haven't submitted any late work as of yet, I always manage to get my assignments turned in on time) and still be able to take care of my daughter during the day and I usually work on my assignments when she is napping or sleeping at night.

I like distancing learning. I eventually switched to distance learning because it made it easier to get a degree and juggle adult responsibilities at the same time. I really liked working at my own pace.

Hi Abaisse,

See I totally agree with you, so I am assuming that you graduated or are you still in school? I find in my opinion people with AS would benefit more from distance learning, simply because like you said you are able to work at your own pace and you won't have to have the pressure of ever speaking in front of a classroom.

Antonblock,

Well you could go to the CTU information site and put in your information and someone would be able to contact you about the different programs that they offer at http://online.coloradotech.edu/tlock/?c ... line+Exact

And there's always other online schools that you could consider like the University of Phoenix, Devry University, as well as many others. I just find CTU to be the best online school though (for me), I looked around at other schools before when I first considered going back to school online and the other schools I looked at, the representatives weren't as very helpful or as nice as they should be to me. When I found CTU though, they were so nice and helped me with anything they could to help me get started. With my instructors that I have now at CTU, they are very helpful and anytime I have a question they are always happy to help me, and that's something I like.

I am finishing my B.S. right now and will start my masters in the fall. I don't think I would have gotten through college if I had to adhere to a traditional schedule. I was overwhelmed before moving to distance learning a couple years ago. Right now, I can listen to lectures and work on papers when I feel the most focused. That's made all the difference.

For anyone wanting to try distance learning, be cautious of diploma mills. I only considered programs that were regionally accredited. I'm not sure how accreditation works outside of the U.S.

Well Abaisse, that is awesome, I am going for my associate degree in Medical Coding and Billing right now and should be finished in June, but I am considering going back to school for BS in Health Administration after that but first and foremost I want to get a job in my career field after I graduate with my associate degree before I decide to go back to school again. I know where you coming from when you were feeling overwhelmed before deciding to go to school online back when I first graduated high school and was enrolled in a local junior college, it was just so hard for me to concentrate and I couldn't meet the deadlines for my assignments but now that I am enrolled at an online school its a breeze for me and so much easier for me now to listen lectures and submit assignments.

Just letting everyone that CTU is an accredited school and is legit because I looked up on it just to make sure, thought I would give everyone a heads up on that if they ever wanted to consider CTU for online schooling.
