some advice for pot-smokers if you care to listen (discard if you don't care no hard feelings)

this may or may not apply to you, but if you ever get to a point when you feel agoraphobic or panicky can't leave the house, afraid of being in public, or just any bad vibe after being high.....slow down and eventually quit.

The way I see it, those "potheads" who smoked weed, and it "was them", had no problem going out in public, meeting people and living their lives high.

.....and hopefully be friends with "friends", not just buddies who smoke pot, because when you are tired of it and all they do is that its not going to be a good situation.

I had buddies that just smoked pot, and they weren't real friends, they just expect me to keep smoking with them.

I smoked for 3 years on and off, and I don't know how much it has impacted me, but I am always curious if I had never smoked, would things be any different. I think most of it was just a waste of time that I could have been doing other activities, but I have a feeling it also messed with my head.

just my 2 cents

I know I'm necro-ing this thread here but I don't feel behind experience wise with my peers but knowledge-wise I feel like I'm always struggling to keep up. Especially with pop-culture or current events. I really have no clue what they are talking about and every time I try to jump into that sort of conversation, I end up embarrassing myself and feeling like they see me as being unknowledgeable or "ret*d". I have the toughest time remembering the names of actors, politicians, musicians, ect.

Does anyone else have this problem? What do you do to try and manage it?

I know pretty much nothing about pop culture and current events either. If my friends talk about something I don't know about, I don't bother entering the conversation at all. Yes, this means I'm often just sat there awkwardly whilst all my other friends are talking when in a large group, but I tend to avoid large groups - preferring small groups so I have more choice over the conversation. Not only that but I can share more personal things in a small group or one-on-one than I can in a larger group.

As for being 'behind' my peers in general, the only area is dating where at 21 I haven't had a relationship yet, however other than that my social life isn't bad and I have a number of friends to talk to. Most things in life I'd say I'm on par with my peers.
