Hey all

We are studying Lord of the Flies for our English exam at the end of the year, my essay is about whether Simon is autistic and my teacher has just told me that listing is not an appropriate technique to use (it was the first time I handed in an essay including it). I have asked other English teachers about this and reached the same conclusion. So I need a different language technique to use, and the exam is in 5 days so I need it rather fast...

We need 3, and I have Metaphor to highlight his logical thinking and incomplete sentence to highlight his difficulty talking to aggressive groups.

What would be a good 3rd technique to support the argument that Simon is autistic? I looked through the book but couldn't really find one that stood out for me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :). I am great at creating personal response upon demand, but I need to know what techniques and quotes I am to use in advance, so the quote, technique and how it relates to Simon being autistic is all I need :) Thanks

Hello! Hmm. I thought Simon was epileptic. I didn't know he was autistic.

Sorry, I would have given you some advice if I had seen your post sooner. Did you already take the exam?

Yeah Sorry :P

S'alright, the exam question didn't really suit my purpose of explaining him as autistic, so I just simply used him as a logical intellectual

I've never noticed... but I always felt I was so similar to him. Particularly when he goes off alone and kinda hides in the forest in order to enjoy the peace and tranquility pure nature provides. Great spotting! :D
