Will I cope at college? life story
A while back I found out i had mild autism and I think I also have adhd. Since being very little it took me longer to walk, talk and I attended speech therapy. When I was in primary school I used to daydream in class and was behind alot. I was diaganosed with what was called a mild learning disabilty as the name was unknown back then. I had to move schools and go into a small class which I actuallly loved. I couldnt get into the senior school i wanted and went to a school a truly hated. I got put in special classes in my last couple of years which were very easy. The classes did certificate instead of gcse's exams which were below the average gcse. I know I had potential and I do think the edcation system failed me. I have always wanted to do well. I'm ambitious but haven't got where i want to be due to unfortunate circumstances. I'm more of a hands on person and want to study art and design I think fashion as I'm building my skills. Applied to one course at a fashion uni but found out i was unsuccessful I think it was my statement. I have decided to study a one year dipolma. The thing is it might be impossible for me to cope with the workload. I was put in special ed so will I cope. I know I'm artisic and do believe in my self but in reality i don't know
most schools (even colleges) allow special things to people with disabilities. All you need is a doctor to say what you need. I was always mainstreamed, but had to have special allotments. I get extra time for tests and assignments, and am able to record the classes on tape. I had plenty of testing to back this privilege. All you have to do is to talk to the professor at the start of the course, and also connect with the disability department. They have all sorts of allotments, and also have tutoring for those who need it. Good luck!

Colleges can help out a lot. You don't even have to tell the professor or teacher what the problem is. Most colleges have a department for people that might need a little more time to take an exam. Just get the form and take it to the professor and they will know what to do.
While I was in graduate school I had many different students and if they needed more time to take exams they would bring the documentation from the university saying they can take an exam at the testing center. Also, many colleges have free tutoring or other tips for people that don't learn the same way as others.
You need to contact the disability office at the school and make an appointment. There is paperwork you have to fill out and get your doctor to fill out, but there are tons of services you can get if your doctor thinks you need them.
Some Common Examples
Extended Time on Tests
Private Testing Room
Recorded Lectures
An actual physical note taker in class
You can also meet with a trained learning specialist who can help you address some issues.
It's important to get the disability office involved. Most professors are very helpful, but they do require documentation to ensure you aren't faking, and that comes from the disability office.

For real, I've never personally used disability services, but from what I've seen from others they seem to be very diligent and accommodating.
I had a girlfriend that accidentally sliced up her dominant hand to crippling levels and she got dialed in and fully faded with disability within a matter of hours.
She didn't even end up really needing it because she taught herself to write like normal with her left hand within a day and a half
But the point is they had her back in a heartbeat even in a humongous university with like 40,000 people.
