So, I just found out that I am no longer going to be able to receive financial aid and that I either need to find scholarships or win the lottery or something to finish my schooling. I am stuck as I cannot currently quit college considering I would need to pay off my loans right off the bat, and I cannot afford to continue my schooling. I currently don't have a job even though I have been looking. I have no clue as to what I am going to do and I feel like I am caught in a corner. All the scholarships I looked at just seem so confusing and need me to be taking more classes than I am now. Although I am comfortable with the amount of classes I am taking I may have to take more just to get funding from scholarships. I feel like I am going to vomit.

Try Go Fund Me and play the pitty card. Only if you feel comfortable though.

I would but they want your friends and family to pay at the start and they are just as broke as I am so that doesn't really help much.

Well, I don't really know about what scholarships are out their, I'm sure there are some but it would take some research and more information on your situation to really point you towards any.

As for the student loans you generally get a six month deferral after leaving school so you have a little time to find a job and start saving money (though there will be interest accruing during this period). Also you can contact your lending company and see about consolidation and wage based repayment so that the amount you pay back is based upon the amount you are able to earn and can actually be zeroed out if you aren't earning enough, the caveat of this is if you aren't paying enough to handle your interest the loan just gets bigger and if you do eventually get a higher paying job can end up hitting you hard, but after 25 years of payments the loan is supposed to be forgiven if I'm remembering right (I'm looking into for myself right now, yay for grad school and few professional prospects).

You only get the deferrment period if u graduate which I can't afford to do at the moment. As far as scholarships goes I have looked at a bunch I don't qualify for any I have found mainly because of the amount of classes I can afford. At 8 credit hours per semester it would cost me $3000 and most require I take 9 credit hours for courses, and I don't have any combination of classes I can take that would only add up to 9 credit hours. Not to mention if I did take a third class instead of just 2 a semester that would put me at 12 credit hours which would cost more than the scholarships would cover. My plan at this point is to finish this class to the best of my ability and find a job before I finish so I can start paying back my loans and maybe save enough to continue my schooling eventually.

What is causing them to refuse to give you any more student loans? For what reason?

I hate being the Voice of Doom, but it's extremely difficult to qualify for a scholarship even if you meet the most basic requirements. On the plus side, it doesn't matter how much you owe if you don't have a job, aren't making any income, or your income is below a threshold amount where they can't garnish your wages. As there is no longer such a thing as Debtor's Prison they can't do anything to you except ruin your credit.

You could get a forebearance and/or a deferment based on lack of income...if it's a government Stafford Loan.

Call 888-272-5543 to get more information.

I don't know about private loans.

I am unaware as far as to if it is private or not I am pretty sure it is government loans. Basically it is my Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans that have run out, which was paying for the majority of my expenses. I have "Reached my Agrigate Limit" pardon my spelling, that is what they told me. I guess the loans only covered half of my schooling. As far as punishment for not paying I would not only be contributing to the countries vast debt I would also be putting not only myself but my family in a financial predicament. They might not be able to put me in jail which I am still unsure of, but they can take away my home and my worldly possessions which I need to stay sane. I am trying to get a job at the moment mainly because it will most likely be my only hope at this point. I just hope I can find one in time, as I am almost done with this class.

They can't put you in jail. That I know.

You have to do SOMETHING. They won't send the paddy wagon after you if you call that number. You'll probably get some Indian person who works for Sallie Mae customer service. They don't give a rat's butt who you are.

Ask for a forbearance or a deferral based on lack of income. It won't harm you in the least to try. If you get either one, the creditors won't come after you, and your credit won't be ruined. When you get a job, then you could start paying off the loan.

You should go to the Sallie Mae website so you could learn more about what a forbearance and deferral is.
