Serial drop out myself, 3 times, who knows what I could have achieved with better understanding from both sides. I'm not going back for a fourth attempt.

My "accommodation" growing up was getting berated by my parents anytime I didn't get an A

I swear to god one time I got chewed out for an A because the teacher made a note that, in addition to doing everything correctly, I was "disruptive" in class. The teacher's note was probably accurate, but it was also in high school.

My sister got "accommodations" just because she never learned how to study, but I got zero quarter for whatever reason--I didn't want or need accommodations, but I could have used a break from time to time.

Thankfully once I went to college my parents didn't care as long as I had something resembling a B average (which is kind of weird because they paid for that, in contrast to going to public school up to that point).

I feel like after a point my parents just got confused and said F it because I was the older "bad kid" out and about drinking and doing drugs like an as*hole but I enjoyed school, always applied myself and got good grades etc, while my sister was a perfect "homebody" child in her down time but just didn't like school and made average grades.

Sorry, this is off topic but s**t was weird.

I received none...during K-12 and in Uni.
If any where avail. to me I was never made aware of the possibility.
My performance would have been even better with accom.

I did TRULY need them...but I was SOL.

I tend to dislike the idea of accommodations. I think they do a disservice in the long run. Life does not make accommodations for you.

I am constantly taken out of my comfort zone at school and work. It can be challenging, sure, but it has made me a more well-rounded person.

Anyone that never does anything that makes them feel uncomfortable at least a couple times a year is not growing/developing as a person.

I needed accommodations due to my dyslexia & ADD. I even went to a school for dyslexic students from middle of 6th through 8th grade.

I've never been formally diagnosed with ASD so never got any accommodations related to that in school. I didn't get any for my depression, anxiety or PTSD either. But to be completely honest, I'm note sure that I would have wanted any for those things. I would definitely have appreciated more support with my dyscalculia.

I never had any accommodations when I was at school, was offered them numerous times but I pretty much told them to shove it because i hate accepting help. Did just fine in the end, passed all of my exams without any help at all.

I get to leave the room and take a walk whenever I feel stressed. I also get extra time on tests and the option to write tests in another room, but I don't really need this. I wish they would tailor IEPs to people's specific disabilities and the specific accommodations they need, and not give people things they don't need.
