I went through a semester of college, got all As and Bs and stopped going after that. The social stress was too much for me to handle, as if highschool and the previous schools I went to didnt take a big enough toll on me as it was. One of the worst times for me was when I was actually able to somewhat begin a friendship with a girl in my yoga class.. Well at least we had some friendly small talk lol.. But I knew that she didnt think there was anything wrong with me so at least I was apparently able to do something right at the time. Anyway on the last day of class I impatiently waited till the end to ask her out on a date (just as friends) and right when the time came I walked up to her, took a deep breath, and walked away.. The most painful thing is that when I approched her she looked up and smiled sincerely at me and it was at that point that I suddenly decided that I was fooling myself to think that I would ever be able to make it work between us.. And that was the last time I ever saw her.. I mean, there were countless other unfortunate social experiences I had as well but that was the one that stood out the most to me.. So anyway, lately Ive been thinking I should probably get back to school but Im too afraid of social contact again.. What should I do? Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.. Although its not like Ill be able to change or something so I have no idea why I have even an ounce of hope left. Usually its not there too

Perhaps you can go to an urban school? New York, for instance, there's no shortages of schools, people come to class and immediately leave, and no one particularly wants to know who you are. If you prefer to be left alone, that'll do.

It does no good to avoid this, anyway. You're nineteen and bad at social experiences, right? It doesn't get any better at twenty, twenty-one, twenty-two if you don't do anything about it. Find something you can live with sooner rather than later, you know? Not that you need to find superhuman strength about it, but try.

If you want it, find a way to make it work. Have you ever considered an online education opportunity? I took all but five of my classes on campus, but I've taken the last 5 through independent learning. Some entire degrees can be earned that way. It's a thought. Or just keep pecking at it, little here, little there, until you make it.

I don't really like college. I think that there are to many people that go. Plus, there is not enough time to learn any of the material that you have to learn in order to do well. I wouldn't recommend going.
