I think it depends on your school and program. However, less homework means that there is less indication on whether or not you understand the material. So less homework doesn't neccessarily mean that it's more of a breeze and you need to make sure that you understand the material.

Not really becuase you are also required to do bullshitt ass-kissing courses such as a person who wants to major in zoology or veternary medicine having to take literature or public speaking. I constantly consider droping out of highschool or going ahead and comitting sucide because I may not be able to get the accomaditions I need in college such as being able to use a calculator in ALL math related courses.

One thing you might try, if you haven't already -- looking over what you will be covering before you get to it. If you already know or have an idea about everything in the lecture, it might be less useless.
Very true. It takes superior time management, though.
