I do really well in school, but I have a love/hate relationship with it. I absolutely hate having to work both in school and outside of it. I can't stand having to constantly think about when the next exam is, or what homework I have to do, when I'm at home at night or over the weekends. That's one thing I love about working, you put in 8 hours a day, but then you go home and don't have to think about it at all...you're free to do what you want. In school, you get out of class, only to spend 8 more hours working on your next assignment, or sacrificing your entire weekend for your next big project.

But I do like being able to work on your own schedule in school. Often you can schedule classes so you can sleep a little late, you do most of your work on your own, and on your own schedule, so that is nice. But it ends up being so much work that you often just don't have any free time left over for fun! PS: I cry when I hear about people in easy majors who go out partying every night and never have homework lol. Engineering saps your strength!!

I hated school. I'm a very independent person and a self-starter, I didn't like being forced to learn what some minimum wage schoolmarm had read that I was supposed to learn.

Instead, I focused on learning stuff I wanted to learn in my own time, and worked hard and sacrificed to get really good at it. Turns out, that's very valuable to a lot of people.

Anyway, I wanted to recommend this post I just wrote about the state of math education. If you think you suck at math, and a lot of you seem to, read this.
