My senior class recently had their prom, but I didn't go. I couldn't afford to go, and I could not handle all that loud music, close quarters, and I would definitely facepalm at seeing my classmates "grinding."

I didn't go to the Prom. I didn't want to waste my time with a bunch of people who treated me like garbage since I came to the school in third grade (it was a central school). I have no regrets about skipping it.

Nope. :? never went to any school events of any sort...
1. No desire to socialize
2. Nobody would have gone with me. :P

Whoa! There are more of you!
Prior to seeing this thread, I have never heard of anyone (save my brother and I) that didn't go the infamous prom.
I was treated horribly in high school... to the point that I tried several times to "off" myself. It was a very dark time. I didn't see what the point was in devoting my evening (my "me-time") to participating in mental warfare with the horrible people that I went to school with. It seemed pointless to me. I went for milkshakes that evening instead. :D

I was invited to mine, and boy, I regret it. The girl I liked, I made her feel uncomfortable the day before so the last dance went out the window. I almost landed in a brawl, and my main friends never even made an appearance. Thus started the worst year ever.

I had to work. Besides, my parents being the strict Arminians that they were (arminius was a Dutch theologian of the 16th century, that influenced the Anabaptists, as well as John and Samuel Wesley), dancing was thought to be the Devil's work.

I didn't go to my Junior prom, but I went to my Senior Prom
I wasn't going to go, but my Creative Writing/English teacher pretty much talked me into it. Actually, come to think about it, I think she may have devoted part of our Creative Writing class to talking me into it. I remember feeling kind of embarrassed at the time, but it's kind of a neat story thinking back on it!
We ended up going and having a pretty great time! She was dating a friend of mine (who had asked out another girl prior to starting to date the girl I took), so it was kind of weird, but very no-pressure.
Prom (at least for us seniors) was pretty surreal... Everyone got along really well and all of the little social barriers seemed to vanish. No one bullied/picked on me and I was able to talk to a bunch of new/different people without feeling ostracized.. It was pretty great!

I didn't go. I've regretted not going ever since... even six years later now.

Got ditched at the last minute by the girl I was supposed to go with. Didn't feel like showing up solo, so I didn't.

My school was a private Baptist school and we had banquets, not proms - no dancing allowed. However I did go to the prom at another school with the guy I was dating. I wore a lime green chiffon floor length antebellum dress with a bustle. My date wore a darker lime green tux. The kind that was made out of thick polyester and had a ruffled shirt. I spent hours getting ready at one of my best friend's houses and his grandmother helped me with my hair and she even gave me a necklace and my friend gave me some perfume. I'll have to see if I can dig up a photo and put it on here. It was 1981, so don't laugh too hard at the bad fashion.

He drove a motorcycle so we took my car and I drove. That looked sort of funny, me driving us, but I did it anyway.

I think we danced one dance, a slow dance. Freebird, I think. Then we left and went to the bar his mother was a waitress at. The drinking age was 19 then but because it was prom season, lots of places would let you in and serve you a little. We drank champagne there.

Neither did I. I had to work, and the church I grew up in strongly deterred any kind of dance, stating that dancing was akin to Satan's hellfire.
