If that's what you want to do, go for it. I was actually surprised to learn that you don't/didn't attend college; you're generally much more intelligent and knowledgeable than most people I talk to. If you do decide to go to college, however, I know you'll succeed.

Try to avoid buying textbooks if you're just reading them to learn and not because they're assigned for a class- there are loads of free ones out there. http://www.textbookrevolution.org/ is one good site.
