love the response
response so lovely

yeah, in Arts at UQ we have 49 majors (mostly languages, history, that sort of thing). I haven't chosen what to major in but currently I'm going along with my interests, doing a Music Techniques course, an English Literature course (in the Writing field), a Drama course, and a Psychology (cognitive mainly) course.

My main interests are creative artistic stuff, music (singing mainly but also piano), writing (i love to read and write pretty much anything), and drama. The only interest I'm not currently satisfying is creativity :(.

out of all of those subjects the psychology would be of interest to me.

not many AS psychologists with AS who concentrate on AS.

who more qualified to discuss, advise and diagnose As than someone with AS?

eng lit and music lead toward teaching, but can be tied to AS in music therapy and written expression in AS youngsters.

a good mix to build on.
good.
good luck

I'm not sure if I'm going to get a Master's degree, it depends on whether it's necessary for AICP certification.

AICP = American Institute of Certified Planners.

planning.... world domination.... mhahahahaha!

(Sorry for answering for you Tim_Tex, couldn't resist ;))

Yes I do quite enjoy psychology, and I like helping people, so maybe I could be an AS psychologist... iiinteresting.. The one thing that puts me off science though is lab reports and conducting experiments and that sort of thing, it feels so regulated and rigid and doesn't quite fit with my thought processes. But hmm, who knows? As a clinical psychologist I wouldn't be working in a lab anyway.

I looked at your profile donkey, and it says you're a scientist, and you've mentioned before you live in brisbane. Do you work at UQ perchance? :D

no no, im living and working in ireland.
i am a vet and i am also a forensic scientist ( im doing a masters in forensics)
im from brizzy and want to return one day.
but for now i live in ireland. full of crazy people here, so i dont stick out as much.

the town planning was of interest to me because im reading a book on town planning and emergence, it is fascinating.

ants and slime molds and town planning ...all connected.

an As psychologist will be a great career path, loads of money ($120 and hour) there arent any As shrinks im aware of and you could write books, do the lecture circuit etc.

if i wasnt doing a masters now i would and have seriously thought about doing a psyche degree.

I used to piss off my EA at my old elementary school bcuz I was so anxious and worried about marks. I had really low marks in grade 7, then in grade 8 I got extremely worried about them but they got much better. And in grade 9(My first year of highscool, last year), my average ended up being 82.1, pretty impressive for sure!I was at an awards ceremony last Wednesday for last year's achievements and I got an honours society award and the grade 9 english award. My english teacher last year thought I was absolutely intelligent and I was like her favourite student. Yet I am still worried about marks, it's something that I really care about, I feel your pain.

Does anyone else obsess about keeping their grades up to the point of making themselves sick with anxiety? I already have GAD with my Asperger's, and I'm starting to feel really overwhelmed by my classes. Logically I know that a 4.0 is nearly impossible to keep throughout a 4+ year program, and that individual grades don't really matter in the scheme of things, but it doesn't stop me from having a panic attack about each and every assignment I have. I gues I'm asking if there's anyone else who has this issue with school, and if so how have/do you coped/cope?

yup I do! I can't stand it even when I get one to two questions wrong on a test or an exam. I just about kill myself over it, today's quiz I almost gave myself a heart attack I think. Then when I go home I think about the questions on the test and think, did I answer that right, maybe I filled in the wrong letter by accident (scan tron ABC or D.) . I'd lose sleep ,I have a hard time eating. it's just terrible. I have to get good grades I just have to!

Set a goal for the grades you want, and do the minimum amount of work needed to get that desired grade. No more.

It got me into 1 of the 10 best liberal arts colleges in the US.

As calculated by the University of California system, I have a 3.61 GPA. My transcript says a 3.8 GPA. So, I have a A average either way. The highest you can get is a 4.0 without college course classes. My old school didn't have enough resources to give me the classes I needed and deserved, so I couldn't take any college classes. Even though I have an A average, some colleges require you to have a GPA above a 4.0. The only way you can is if you take college course classes. It is too bad though that they require something some schools can't supply.

The best thing to do is go home every night, study, and do homework as soon as you get home. Wherever you go, take your homework with you and place it beside you. It will remind you to do it. Plus, do a to-do list to keep you on track.

Excellent advice; you need to insist yourself to do it, it's easy to push aside and ignore/do a rush-job later. BTW Physicsteen, even though you don't have AP credits (which is unavoidable if your school doesn't offer them) your grades are still excellent, and more than good enough for UC Riverside's admission standards.

Don't expect to get a 4.0 in college unless you are always in class everyday, always ontime, do all the work and extra credit, and suck up to every teacher you ever have.

Teachers in college are extremely subjective, even in what should be the more objective classes. Even math teachers(perhaps the most objective styled classes you could possibly have), tend to add a little bit of subjectivity into their final grade.

One thing to note...if your teacher dislikes you, and the class involves any sort of project or essay mention...you can almost be guaranteed to receive an A- if you know your s**t flat...unless you do some brownnosing, or plan to call them on it to the dean.

I'm in art(extremely subjective subject...worse than the rest, not to mention the hours and work)...and have managed around a 3.92 without brownnosing/sucking up at all...so you can still get really high without it. I'm in my senior year atm.
