Mine's terrible! My friend, a doctor, has better handwriting than me!
Over the years, it has been described as "beetle tracks", "hieroglyphics" and rather imaginatively "the aftermath of a drunken spider's escape from an inkwell"! - It would appear that most people cannot read it.
It has certainly improved over the years, but I will never win prizes for legibility. My exam papers elicit a groan from anyone unfortunate enough to be marking them, and my report forms are a mess.
Things should improve in future, and there has been a shift towards marking for content rather than apperance, so hopefully those of us with bad handwriting will be left in peace!

Oh yes, my handwriting is bad, not as bad as my brother who is dyslexic, but still bad!

I also tend to write over my notes in pen because the ink is never strong enough....

Once I was doing a group project with classmates in 8th grade, and one of my classmates told me not to write in cursive. I said that wasn't cursive; that was how I printed.

mine, its soo bad i was told to redo work and in high school, had the writtin in red: USE A WORD PROCESSOR, that got other kids being jealus of me because i was allowed to use the computer in classroom during the whole period. i found an easier way to "fix" the handwriting and not be relying off computers and a working printer.

that silver thing in my avator (actually a door closer for storefront doors) i used it as an adaptive device for last 6 weeks of high school in my 12th grade year. worked out well in making the handwriting neater. what i did was put pencil in end of arm (part that would mount arm to a door frame or door) and wore the body of the closer on my shoulder and just write as i would as if i didnt have a closer to help. i think its because of my hand angle or movement.

believe me, think wurdbendur's looks bad, mine looked like a preschooler hijacked my pencil and had fun with it.

i wish i would have known about the IDEA act law back in about 11th grade when i found that closer, and had alot of teachers assuming i cant learn at same level of others ALL BECAUSE OF MY HANDWRITING it seems teachers (some) look at what shows on paper, not the thought and the fact that the child has a fine motor problem with getting the thoughts from brain to paper and the hardware (the hand) is making that hard because of muscle control. i think it would be alot easier and i would have learned alot more and not had teachers assume what i can or cannot do.

there are 3 main reasons i think that can cause dysgraphia,

1. eyesight problems because if its blurry you dont know how to size letters to make it readable

2. in a hurry, people (like doctors) when writing and in a hurry letters can look distorted like some doctor's wrting

3. muscle control being that many aspies DO have fine motor delays and not coordinated making things not smooth. i have heard that in a way that cerebral palsy is slightly related to aspergers/autism because of the brain (neurological disability)

so just because the kid writes sloppy, that don't mean he dont understand the material being taught.

My handwriting has always been pretty bad. It goes with the territory I guess.

His handwriting may improve with time; mine did somewhat. On the other hand, he may become irritated by efforts to improve it, as I did, and refuse to cooperate.

Handwriting is becoming an obsolete skill, really. Get him to learn to type, and get the school to let him type. You can have a handwriting evaluation done if that's what's necessary to persuade them.

My hand writing is awful.
One of my problems is that the words often accidentally slip onto the line below or above, and my letters vary in size.

Hi Everyone. I just posted in the parents forum but I thought I would also ask some current students for suggestions. I am the mom of a very smart 5 year old Aspie. He is struggling with handwritng and gets upset when he is forced to practice. He also has problems with zippers, buttons, snaps and tying his shoes. He gets OT but I am worried he is going to have lots of problems in Kindergarten. I am wondering if any of you have writing or fine motor problems and how you deal with them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kathy

get him to type or use pictures to communicate instead. More visul language could help as well.

My handwritng is also rather, ummm, unorthodox. It takes a lot of effort to fill in forms by hand and if I make some notes by hand I can't always
I had some special intervention when I was in school, but if it was successful then I shudder to think what it must have been like before. So, basically I am not sure what can be done to help the situation and I expect the writing cannot be expected to ever be all that good.

My hand writing is a MESS and I get constantly scolded for it.
But I also have hyperflexible finger joints, so that holding a pen
for a longer amount of time does hurt me a lot.

When i was very little, I used to have bad handwriting. But for the past few years, I have been known for having next to perfect handwriting and this is no joke.

My handwriting hasn't really changed much but i've heard that people think its actually not too bad but I don't seem to agree with that too much.... and my siblings have much better handwriting compared to me... There for I tend to try avoid writing notes down to people or write letters which I still end up having to.
I will post you the picture of my handwriting but I won't do it now though.

my handwriting was absolutely terrible, print or cursive, until the 5th grade. it still isn't the best in my first year of college, but it does get better over time.

one big suggestion i have, though, is let him discover his own handwriting style; whether it's printed block letters, general cursive, calligraphy or a blend, he will find what works for him. i didn't figure out just what worked for me until at least the 8th grade, but besides my writing going from semi-legible to totally legible, once i found by style, it hasn't changed
