I'm not sure about Northwest Vista, but I think the dress code is wear anything that doesn't reveal too much skin.

Well I think all school have some rules that are universal (nothing with any kind of vulgarity or that promotes substance abuse or shows too much skin) but when I moved from NC to SC in middle school I was shocked to find that the religious right wing culture of the area even spilled over into the public school system. In the pickens county school system students were forbidden to wear any clothing that could be viewed as, to quote my old student handbook, "inappropriate for the gender of the student in question". Any kind of piercing to a part of the body other than the ear lobe or having hair that is dyed any "un-natural" color wasn't allowed either YET it was perfectly within the rules to wear clothing that displayed the Confederate flag which was specifically not allowed at my old school in North Carolina where their were no rules against students cross dressing, having piercings, or dyeing hair.

I live in a conservative town, yet there are no rules against cross dressing, piercings, or hair dyed in unnatural colours.

In high school, we had to wear solid-colored polo shirts and pants/shorts that couldn't conceal a weapon, and had to be worn with a belt if there was a place for a belt.

We could wear t-shirts and clothes that featured my school's logos or the logo of an extracurricular activity.

Since my school's colors were green and white, and our mascot was the Eagles, students could wear Philadelphia Eagles attire without any trouble.

I grew up as a military brat. So I attended schools on US Army bases. We could wear make up and jewelry and have our hair any way. We couldn't wear really short skirts or shorts. I think some of the boys in my high school had long hair and wore earrings.

I know in Korean middle and high schools girls can NOT wear make up or wear earrings. They can wear a watch. Boys can't have their hair long and wear earrings.

My schools dress code is almost non-existent. Guys can wear dresses to school if they want (And some do)! The school I go to is an extremely open-minded school.

in australia we have uniforms even in public schools, uniform is white button up/polo shirt with school emblem, school skirt(tartan in our schools colours, navy, yellow, maroon, blue and white)/grey shorts/grey pants, school knit/fleece jumper, closed in shoes that are black or white(sneakers acceptable) there is an optional tie that no one wears

jewelry is allowed
wearing printed/not white shirts under school top is not
coloured shoelaces are not permitted
jeans and hoodies not allowed

i break the code and the teachers let me cause they know theres no point arguing with me as i require perfect comfort

i wear the shirt, tie not done properly or a bow tie, knee hi stripy sox, sneakers, hooded cardigan/jumper, almost black pants/grey jeans/school skirt/grey shorts, vests

no rules on tucking in shirts or wearing the blazer or the tie

skirts are very short at my school, so mine is long past my knees
shirts must have a button done up

I have to wear a uniform at my school. But that just calls more attetion to what make-up you wear, the purse you carry, and how you do you hair everyday.

I go to UC Berkeley.
Anything goes.

There was a student a couple of years back who was part of a nudist movement. He walked around campus naked until the police were called. When they took it to court, the court decided that he had to wear a loincloth!

Pretty strict, we have a marshall who goes around giving people detentions for not wearing their blazer, or having shirts untucked etc...

I have to wear a knee length skirt (and only a skirt, no trousers option!), tights, or grey knee socks, a shirt (In sixth form you may choose what colour to wear), school jumper and a school blazer.

I think I prefer it to having no dress code, i hate mufti days when you can wear what you like, its too much or a hassle.

My school tries to enforce a strict uniform, but many people seem to ignore this anyway..
People are frequently being sent home for incorrect/inappropriate clothing...

Personally, I couldn't care less what I'm wearing,
It isn't my top priority when going to school anyway... o_O

not strict, they dont care if people have huge tattoo's, crazy hairstyles, or hair colors. I guess they would rather just ignore it then have to argue with teenagers. :/
