I think the biggest issues is quite frankly. No one is content with being a loser anymore. Like back in the old days people were content with it. These days, I don't believe anyone is.

I think the actual issue is not the lack of contentedness with "being a loser" but rather the virtual deification of ivory towers.

Not necessarily. If you have your diploma, you can get into the high skill trades (electrician, plumber, HVAC, etc), which can make really good money. Especially if you're in the union or own your own business.

a trade is equivalent to a 2 year tech degree for all practical purposes.

However, acquiring the knowledge, skills, certification, and experience for a trade need not cost the same price as a two year technical school degree. You can learn the terminology and basic techniques from books and get an apprenticeship to learn the skills and gain the experience needed to become a journeyman, then get certified and become a master plumber or master carpenter and so forth. My dad had told me that once though, although he never got certified as a master plumber because he died of lung cancer before he could do so.

Well the answer as to which a degree makes ones life better then as far as starting university and getting through then I would say yes for me eventhough it has not been many months since I graduated. My studies is basically all I have in my life that I have created on my own so if I would not have made it I would have been a broken man personally. So for now it has salvaged some of my self-respect, which I need badly by the way.

Not really - that falls into the "special skills" column. People with HS diplomas that go into those trades generally have already started their careers while still in HS. Most of us that don't get BAs don't have those kind of special skills.

Bachelor's degrees get your foot in the door to many good jobs and opportunities. They dont have to be related to your degree either. Most people with bachelors start in a company in entry level jobs and get promoted into what their degree is related to. Aka a marketing degree starts you off in the marketing dept. and can easily get you promoted up that dept. or into HR or Administration.

After [unsuccessfully] trying to get a foot in the door of the workforce for the past 5 years, I think I need to finish school for this ^^ reason.
