Yes; I think the whole 'most people with AS are above average intelligence' thing is a fallacy.

SAT and IQ scores may indicate something about intelligence. But GRADES?

Why do people think that grades are an indication of intelligence? Grades are an indication of planning and organizational skills.

True. I know people who have really good grades, but they're not very smart. Grades are basically an indication of study and planning, not intelligence.

A's and B's. First two semesters this year, I was off one point in one class from straight A's. Last term I was off 5 points in one class.
I have trouble concentrating on work. in middle school, my dad had to be the "Homework Nazi". These days I'm doing alright.

When I was in school, I was mainly a B student. Mathematics was one of my weaker subjects; in fact, it got so challenging that my mom got me a private tutor for it. (On an ironic side note, one of my weakensses in HS wound up being one of my strengths in college.) Miraculously, I never failed a math class.

Science were a slightly stronger subject, but I will admit that I failed biology in the first quarter of my sophomore year. It turned out to be the only quarter were I failed ANY subject, thank God...

As for history (or "social studies" as we called it), despite my up-and-down performances on the exams, I still passed with good grades (mostly B's). I did better in English, IMO...

The easiest ones were band and physical education (I still passed the latter despite my lack of athleticism)

I contributed part of my success to a class called "Resource" in my HS, which allowed me to do some of my assignments right then and there and save the rest for home.

Most of the time and today, I'm getting A's and B's. A few years ago I wasn't doing to well in school due to depression and high level of anxiety. I still have problems such as that but it's not as bad as it used to be, so I'm doing pretty well in school.

I never understood the point of grades or what they were until I was homeschooled. I always thought it was stupid to work so hard just for a printed letter. But then I also thought school was because I couldn't learn about what I wanted to (advanced zoology and art). And when we finnaly did do those things it was dumbed down to advrege NT level and in art I had to draw stupid stuff like people and plants and use crayons and markers and paper that ripped easily.

No one ever explained the grading system to me.

I get good grades in biology and other stuff that I'm into, but my grades are very bad in math because I hate math and I never want to do the work.Unfortunately I need to take math for the degree I want.

My marks tend to be varied. Here's an example:

English/Second Language Courses: 60's-70's (Love English, hate second language)
Math/Technology Courses: 90's (I'm a logical thinker, so I always liked these)
Music: 80's (I like this course)
Visual Arts: 50's (I HATE DRAWING AND MAKING THINGS!! !)
History/Geography/Civics: 50's -70's (I also hate anything historical, political, geographical *yawn*)
Phys Ed: 70's (I've always been able to pass, and always appreciate the exercise)
Science: 70's-80's (I've always liked this course alot)
Business: 80's (I hated this course, but still did well?)

I was in an accelerated program in early grades and college prep in HS. graduated with honors with little effort. Have 4.0 in College but I attribute this to the amazing rote memory I have. I never forget things not even tiny details and I see patterns even in thoughts and people so I "read" my professors very well and know kinda how they think and what they are looking for in the answer. That being said I often feel I am severely lacking in ability to do much of anything I excel at because book knowledge is not the same as being able to apply it. For instance I could likely ace the licensing test for being an electrical contractor if I spent two or three days with the code book but Id be dead the first day on a job because I don't really know squat about electrical wiring. Anyone else find that even though folks think "gosh your so smart" you feel miserably incompetent?

C's and D's in high school.

Straight A's in college. I think its largely because in high school you're with the teacher all year so they don't always tell you everything they expect you to do on each assignment, thinking you know from past experience. Wheras in college, you typically get a syllabus, and assignment sheets fully detailing what you need to. (Keeping track of those papers was another matter, but I always had "friends" near by who would reinform me of due dates and criteria, nad professors who didn't mind giving me a new syllabus every week)

My grades are all over the place... From As to Fs.

I can do okay in most classes... anything that requires brute force memorization is very difficult. Either through bad memory/laziness/distraction I can't manage very well. Same things with rules that don't quite sit well in my brain, like grammar or spelling.

But overall I just get bad grades because I am not interested in the class... don't put forth the effort. I am comfortable putting forth a minimum effort in classes I don't care about... still pulling a B or C so I can focus on what I really care about.

In the subjects I enjoy, I study and get As... no problem.

It also depends greatly on the instructor... if I sense they don't know what they are talking about or not putting forth the effort in the class... that instantly makes me think I shouldn't even bother either. This happened last semester in a Computer Science course. I really didn't like the professor... his teaching methods were lousy, was barely prepared, and made arbitrary grading decisions.... and to top it off I highly doubt he could even accomplish the assignments he gave out.

I didn't really need the course... so half way through I just decided I would show up and take the tests while doing no work. I ended up getting a C-, which I am very proud of. My other grades were good enough, that I got a 3.0 for the whole semester.

Which is usually how it goes, my overall gpa is a little over 3.0. It's higher now in college than it was in high school... mostly because I get to take more Math courses.
