Nope, most of the kids in my special ed class are stoners, rarely go to school, care not about school and are still pretty friendly.

hi, if the sdi/specially designed instruction is given in a place that is not meeting your needs, advocate for change!

special ed is a service, not a place!

best,

...and now, this is the best time to advocate for a change.

I was in a special ed class for 1 year (when I was aged 11-12).

Most of the kids in the class had behavior problems (some of them would go into uncontrollable rages and throw things, punch holes in the walls etc).
There were a few kids in there who had languaged based 'disabilities' and some others (like me I suspect) had AS or other non-languaged based 'disabilities'.

The teacher really had no idea how to teach a class, let alone a class with kids who regularly start fights and continuously misbehave!
There was a therapist who came into our class twice a week and the whole class did 'group therapy'.

I was so greatful to finally get out of that class the next year.

Yeah, I hated group therapy, too, I totally suck at working with groups.

PS: I guess these kind of special ed classes doesn't only exist here in America.

How does that work? Are they spec ed kids that can't deal with their problems or stoned kids that are pretending to be spec ed kids?
