Your mom may have some issues that definitely need to be addressed.

But just a tip (since I started college as a premed): You don't major in veterinary medicine in college, what you do is get an undergraduate degree (it can be in any major, but you'll need some general prereqs, like calc, bio, chem, organic chem, etc.), and then you go to a veterinary school. It works just like med or dental school.

Best of luck to you in your endeavors, and don't let anyone, even a loved one, get you down.

I'm going to a local university, and... I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to end up majoring in. But right now I'm very interested in taking some Psychology courses, along with others so I can get a better glimpse at what I'd be good at.

Wow - we're mostly science majors.

You George Mason people - I think Alex goes there (I think he started the last thread with this same subject)

To the person who wants to go to UC Davis to study veterinary medicine: it's one of the most difficult vet schools in the country to get into. And the other poster is correct: it is a graduate degree.

Me: I'm starting my final year getting a master's in community and public health nursing at University of Hawaii. I want to establish a charitable foundation and open nurse-run clinics in impoverished parts of the world.

Is Texas a nice place to be? I'm somewhat considering a school in Texas, but I'm not sure what to expect from the Lone Star State.

I just moved to Texas last August for grad school. It's been okay. It's kinda flat. *laughs* No but really, it's kinda funny. I spent the past 13 years in NC. Texans think they're really tough rednecks/hardcore Republicans, but they're practically moderates compared to NC repubs.

So it's okay. Most of the people are pretty nice. I'm doing okay out here. I've made a lot of new friends, and my profs are great. I'm going to Texas Woman's University, pursuing an MA in Music Therapy. I have 3 more semesters and then a 6 month internships.

Austin is the sole liberal oasis in the state.

Well Sedaka, abstrusemortal, and myself have met Alex in person a bit. I met him randomly in a dining hall like the sunday before classes started in the fall of 07. Actually met his gf as well a few times.

I'm about to be a high school junior, as as far as college plans, I'd like to attend the University of North Texas and possibly receive a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology with a minor in History and later pursue a Master's Degree in International Relations. As of now, I'd like to have a career in diplomacy. Does anyone know of any good programs to get into for such a career?

I got my undergrad in instrumental music education. On average I would take 9-12 classes per semester. I got through it by hyperfocusing on what had to be done each day to survive. And that was before I got any of my dxes or had any of my meds; so I was on a rollercoaster of moods and extreme anxiety levels constantly.

holy....F**king sh*t......Does that translate to like....27-40 credit hours....and what do you mean, "I got through it by hyperfocusing on what had to be done each day to survive." and by "dxes" ?

I'm currently a junior at University of CO - Denver. I'm majoring in Philosophy with a minor in Psych. I'm planning, though, on getting the hell out of Denver when I graduate. My plans are to go to the University of MN to pursue a Master's in Anthropology.

dxes - diagnoses

As for credit hours, that translated to me taking between 18 and 21 hours every semester. I had a lot of 1 hour classes. You do as much work as the 3 hour ones (or more), but this way, music majors can hope to ever graduate. lol

In undergrad and now in grad, when it really gets rough, I start getting up at 4 am to do homework.

As for hyperfocusing, it's an aspie skill. You know how you get when you get really absorbed by one particular topic? Well, when I can pull it off, I trick myself into thinking that whatever homework I'm doing is my new special topic. lol And when that doesn't work, I just bribe myself with necessities--like bathroom breaks.
