Computer Science - back in the mid-70s. I was happy with my choice back then and have had a satisfying career (mainly doing database design and programming). Nowadays I'm not sure whether it would be a wise a choice. Many of these types of jobs are being sent offshore and job prospects are not so good (at least in my area).

Actuarial Science (officially known at UConn as Mathematics-Actuarial Science). Basically financial assessment of risk. Mainly working with insurance companies to determine premiums based on different risk factors (for example a 39-year old smoker with a family history of lung cancer and heart disease would have to pay a much higher life insurance premium than a 22-year old in perfect health whose grandparents and parents are all still alive). Very stats and probability based, though I'm still a freshman and haven't taken any courses specifically in that field yet.

Hah, I've considered going to grad school at UConn for this.
Likely not, though, I think I'll stick with a more broad statistical playing field.

When I first started applying to colleges, I was planning on going into journalism. Then out of nowhere, I decided to do special education. I'd always wanted to do education and some form of writing, but I had a blip where I decided to do journalism. My first semester of college, I did special education but kept thinking about a million other things I wanted to do. I'm about to switch to english education, and I won't be surprised if I change my mind again.

I'm currently studying Archaeology (my complete and total obsession!) with a minor in modern languages, specifically Arabic and French. I am very much for Aspies taking to education, it is very important to me. I hated high school so I pulled my act together and graduated a year early, then went straight to college. I know that to do what I want I have to be trained and in the know, plus it's just fun to be in classes with people who care about the subject (almost) as much as you yourself do.

I did archaeology with minor in latin. i have also completed classical performance on trombone.

Now i am back for the third time studying Midwifery. :D

Child Development. I focused mainly on the first 5 years of life because I wanted to become a licensed daycare provider.

When I first got to college, I majored in Sociology. The reason I chose sociology is because I had took some sociology courses as electives in high school and I found it more interesting because it felt more "relevant" than other classes at the time. It was talking about how culture and social groups effect us and things like poverty, social class, race, gender, all the stuff that effects me personally rather than some dead white man from a few centuries ago who didn't give a damn about me. I took mostly sociology classes in the beginning, but when I got into the heavier stuff, I started to lose interest and realized that other than becoming a sociology researcher, there wasn't much in sociology, so I decided to change over to political science, because I always had a interest in politics since I was thirteen, and maybe I could become an intern and a politician or maybe an activist for social justice someday.

As of late in the last year or so, I kind of really grown to hate politics and politicians, in the US anyway. The entire system is broken and beyond repair, and it seems that the type of people we need most in positions of governance are prevented from entering, while the it seems the worst type of people one can think of are the ones in power, and its all a circus anyway, with clowns like Sharon Angle, Jim Boehner, Bobby Jindal, its disgusting. I mean, I can't read a single political article in the news without my blood pressure rising through the roof, it makes me depressed and angry to see what is happening to this great nation. I listen to Rage Against the Machine to calm myself down. Now, I want nothing to do with politics and don't know what I'm gonna do with my life. Although, I always had a knack for humor, maybe I might be a comedian.

Geophysics with a focus on climate science/paeloclimatology. I may actually graduate next year. I took sort of a circuitous route - I started with aerospace engineering, then physics, then linguistics and anthropology, then a few years off, then physics again, then math, then applied math, and now geophysics.

Currently studying psychology with a business minor. I'm hoping the business minor will help me out in terms of job and getting internship.

I did two separate post-secondary programs (graduated from both).

First I have a college diploma in Computer Programming, which I finished in 2003. Second, I have a Bachelor of Arts in Cinema and Media Studies, which I just received last year.

I'm currently working on my 3rd degree, studying science this time around.

I hated high school, but I really started liking academics once I got into college and I had a lot more control over what classes I wanted to take. My problem was wanting to take a little bit of everything. If I could, I'd take one class that interested me each semester for the rest of my life.
