I'm having problems deciding which college to go to in 2010.

Okay here's the deal. I'm currently studying for my GCSE O-Levels which are due to start in October 2009, my SAT Reasoning Test which is due on October aswell, and my Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL (pronounced Toe-Full)) which due in August. I plan on going to the US to study Filming in a 4-year college and graduate with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). So all I need to do is decide now which college to go to in 2010 when I get my O-Level results in January 2010. But the problem is that I'm finding it hard to decide which college to go to. I'm currently considering the University of La Verne (ULV) due to its affordable fee with Financial Aid (though any college is affordable with Financial Aid), any 4-year college in Beverly Hills as I can get an internship at 20th Century Fox (the only internship which international students studying Filming can apply for, though I have to complete my freshmen year to apply for it), Northwestern University (NU) in Illinois. But I really want to enter a college where I can easily meet up with any of you guys in the States. But I'll be open to any college (just the 4-year ones with BAs). So which one do you guys think I should take? ULV? NU? A college in Beverly Hills? A college where I can meet up with any of you guys? Or do you have a college you wish to suggest to me? Feel free to comment and I'll take that into consideration.

Sorry for double-posting but can anyone please reply to this topic? I really need your opinion. I feel like my brain's about to explode.

For someone with AS it is crucial, in my opinion, to find a place that is accepting of diversity from professors and students = I suggest you also look into that.

There are no colleges in Beverly Hills. UCLA is nearby in Westwood, but they have a low acceptance rate for out-of-state/international students. (And I don't recommend it for aspies -- I'm currently attending there, and having an awful time.)

University of La Verne has no film studies major. (Well, to be precise, they have a broadcasting major, which is fine if you want to work in TV or radio, but isn't specific to the movie industry like a film major would be.)

I think you need to do more research on this. Why not go to college in Singapore?

Also, if you are really keen on moving to the US for some reason, you could try a community college and then transfer to a 4-year college later. That would be a much cheaper option, if you think you can make a 3.0+ GPA.

Keep in mind that California is currently in a severe budget crisis, and all the public universities and colleges are making major cuts in enrollment, classes, and possibly financial aid.

Well I also want to ask the same question... Singapore has only three good universities, and two with film/mass communication majors, but these two are just simply not so specialised as American schools! So this is why this question is even asked in the first place.

And yeah, why not try a community college first. As long as you can write and do math and complete academic work equal to high-school levels, I see no reason why community colleges won't accept you? And they provide groundwork to future academic work, too.

George Mason is a good choice to go to since Alex went to Mason. I go to Mason as well and graduating in Spring 2010. I am might be around still for Grad School in Special Education.

Hmm, George Mason is not bad... Can consider. How strict are its entry requirements?

Thanks, it looks that I may have to start preparing for our SATs soon... But I shall finish my own high school final examinations first, aka the A Levels. Without 'A's in Singapore, I cannot even have a good shot at Singapore's local universities... Will only start preparing for any other exams after the 'A's, for my case. Wonderful...

Didn't we try it here? We think Northwestern is ok, and there's USC and UCLA, but you can also consider George Mason as well...

^Most of the time, we go by Mason but George Mason has been used a good bit as well.
