Just curious, it's that time again when we look at our 7 (8 in a couple of weeks) year old. In the past, most of his IEP has been behavior related and really only focusing on AS. We're trying to push the county to look at him more as a AG/AS kid and address the giftedness also and with it's twice gifted nuainces. He's a brilliant kid that really, really dislikes school and we feel that intellectually the boredom is getting the best of him. He did skip 2nd grade and is now in 3rd with 1 day a week in gifted studies. He's in a small class setting but his peers are all below grade-level so no real peer interactions to speak of. Anyone have any pointers? IEP items that appeared to work for you?

If you haven't already, have a look at the articles I wrote on IEPs for Aspies...
They're all linked here...

If possible, try to remember that school is only partially about academic progress. Your son is obviously doing well in that department, so the IEP doesn't need to address a lot of academic things. Instead, have the IEP address traditionally weak areas of aspies. Social skills etc...

If you can get your son into a drama class, it would be good as there's a lot of social in there as well as acting - he'll be practicing facial expressions, tones and being someone else. Something that he'll be doing for the rest of his life.
