Hi,

I've recently finished my AS Level exams and I've reflected on the year. I don't think Year 12 was as successful for me as Year 11, and I've run into a lot of psychological problems this year. I'm predicted 4 A grades at AS Level but I don't think I'll get them. As a result of this, I've been a bit depressed and down, and I've just had nightmarish scenarios that I'm going to mess up my AS Levels. I was much more Asperger in my behaviour in Year 11 when I did my GCSEs and got excellent results, and I received very good support. In A-levels so far, I tried taking an independent approach to my problems but this hasn't worked as much.

The A-level results come out on August the 20th. Is anyone already feeling nervous?

I am not so sure... I am also a Year 12 student too, so I can emphatise with you. But I am taking the November paper, so I am still ok. I also had similar nightmares... well, they were true in my last exams, as I failed Economics and Mathematics, two of my stronger subjects. And I am an Autie...

Never mind, stay awesome and keep in shape, because anxiety will do no good. Just do whatever we can before school finally ends...

I start my AS levels next year so I'm waiting for my GCSE results which at the moment I'm not too worried about although I'm probably gonna be very nervous the week they come out. You're lucky though I have to wait a week longer than you for my results.
Good luck. :D

ARGH me I did my A2s and find out in less than a month if I got into Oxford Brookes! Don't think my last exam, geography, went too well cos some idiot reversed into our car at 8.30 when the exam started at 9 so I was in shock and didn't revise National Parks. Talk about 60 marks of total waffle :(
I had more psychological problems in year 12 and had to have counselling for depression and eating disorder, mainly due to taking psychology at AS, things seemed to calm down for me in year 13, including the amount I worked :S
Good luck!

Thanks! If you don't mind me asking, what did you get at AS?

ABBCE (incl B for general studies - had to sit in exams for over 4 hours altogether so why not just do it)

I did a couple of retakes, the business one worked, the geography one really didn't, I went down marks cos I just DO NOT get the investigation paper no matter how easy my teacher told me it was or how much revision I did :(
But I got 98% in one of my business modules so was cheered up on March results day a bit :)

That's interesting, I also did a paper called "Geographical Investigations" for it, and we all spent £250 on trips to help us with it, but I thought I did really badly in the paper. One of our teachers said that the paper was a doddle, although I didn't think so (I probably found it the hardest out of the class). The other paper we did, "Global Challenges" was much better. I'm thinking I'm probably going to get 40/70 for it, which to me isn't great. It said on the paper "Refer to fieldwork techniques whenever possible" but I thought, "HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO MENTION FIELDWORK TECHNIQUES IF THEY DON'T ANSWER THE BLOODY QUESTION?!" :x I guess Geography just isn't my kind of subject; I'm much more into maths and the sciences. Our Geography course was also crap (it's the new Edexcel course) which put me off of doing it at A2 (there's an A2 Geography paper where you do one question, but it's worth 70 marks! 8O ) But because I'm not doing the whole A-level Geography, I won't be too bothered if I get a crap grade (although a good one would be nice, of course 8) )

At least there's someone with a similar view; do you prefer the kinds of geography papers where you learn the content and use it in the paper (rather than to talk about fieldwork techniques)?

Yes I do, even though I find not much tends to go in, unless I can relate it to something like my passion for films. Things like tornadoes go in well, cos I know Twister (1997) word for word but more complicated stuff like atmospheric systems lose me right at the beginning :( But problem is...I have applied to do geography/business at uni...
I have proved 3 times, most likely, find out tomorrow, that I cannot do fieldwork techniquers stuff. I got the most ridiculous question in my recent retake and almost had a meltdown in the middle of the exam, but managed t hold my explosion until the common room and, worse, when my mum picked me up. She made me speak to a doctor cos I was smacking thwe car, myself, shouting, screaming, crawling under tables and then lay across the back seat of the car shaking. It asked me something like 'how would I use the techniques that I didn't use?' I DON'T F*****G KNOW I DIDN'T USE THEM!
Boy, I hated that paper, but problem was, the other 3 in my class nailed it with Bs on their first attempt. And my teacher went through loads of stuff with me for both retakes, and basically told me 'that was such a waste of time'
All I want is a C pleeease! I am reasonably confident I got 2 Bs in the others, but there's always a chance I am overestimating...my media studies question involved analysing trailers of Billy Elliot (2000) and This Is England (2006), 2 films I have seen and really enjoyed, and I remembered loads of stuff I never thought I even knew, I am just worried that though I may get marks for my wider reading, I may not have answered the question to their taste...
Hopefully Brookes will accept my begging if it comes to that and let me go anyway I hear their disability department is very good and from what experience I've had on the phone, it is 8)

Well I hope the results come out the way you want them to tomorrow. :)

Are you seeing any of your results online?

Thanks, same with you. I'll make a decision tomorrow as to whether I will post my result here, depends what it is :P
Uh I was thinking of checking UCAS tomorrow morning, apparently you can do it from midnight but whatever result I will either want to be happy and tell everyone or mope and feel very upset, and either way find it even harder to get to sleep than usual, so may try to wait til morning, but was gonna check before I pick up the papers. I THINK. May get too scared :S

Ah right. Well since I've just finished AS levels, I won't need to check Track at all. However, I'll be able to see my Edexcel results online tomorrow (Physics and Geography) and I'll need to calculate the UMS myself :x since all our exams aren't cashed in until the end of Year 13. Fortunately I came up with a formula so I can work them out straight away. :D

I'll create a thread for A-level results and post them on that thread (maybe I'll put up module marks and scans of certificates as well).

I'm so nervous! :( Which university have you applied to?

YOU'RE nervous! AS are OK, they can be 'easily' sorted out in time to get to uni, A2s can't :S I am nervous, but I have phases of feeling it and am generally not very emotional so I'm not like going totally mad but I do hope I see 'your place is confirmed' or whatever on Track.

My first choice is Oxford Brookes, insurance is Keele, I rejected Aberystwyth and Nottingham rejected me, so I practically have the entire possible collection of outcomes :P

I got AAAB, which is pretty good! :) I got 6 marks off an A in Physics, which I was a bit annoyed with.

Awesome! Congratulations!
I got ABB, 7 marks off A in geography which was soooo surprising considering it was my weakest at the beginning of yr 13! Now almost an A! That means I got into Brookes =D
Though the Times Uni guide seems to not think it's as good as I believed... :(

You going through your UCAS stuff yet?
