studying overseas

I'm currently at college taking scottish highers and have for the last year or two been unable to convince my parents to let me consider education down in England due to the fees and the fears they have about my aspergers although I'm fairly high functioning...
I've recently been researching studying in the usa as there seems to be help to study there...is there anyone from the uk that has done this and would they advise it?
