I brought this up on Facebook a few days ago, and I talked about how disappointed I am with the electronics program at my new vo tech school. They used to focus on opto electronics as the main curriculum, and now they changed it to just your general basic electronics. I am very disappointed about that, here was the note I put up recently.

"I have to say that the electronics program at Lenape has been a major disappointment so far. The program has been changed from opto electronics to just basic electronics and robotics. The reason for this change was because they hired a new instructor this year. There are two reasons for why I think this is a major disappointment, first off, the seniors were taught opto electronics last year, which is a more specific kind of electronics. I was looking forward to learning more about opto electronics, because I already had some idea of what it already was, from going to the IUP Northpointe summer camp, and soldering the laser kit at Computing Workshop last summer. I was very disappointed about the fact that I came to Lenape expecting to learn specifically opto electronics, and they change it to just basic electronics right before school starts. My parents are going to meet with the school and try to figure out how they can change this.

So far, the only things that we have done are entering commands into the computer for robots, and preparing to build the wind turbine which is going to power the greenhouse, which is going to power the greenhouse that Lenape's Natural Resources Technology shop uses. The program has become way to general, and I don't like that at all. When I would work with the robots, the instructor wouldn't even tell us what the circuits were supposed to do, he would just tell me how to enter them into the computer. If things do not change in this program, I will probably go into cyber school. I didn't want to learn the general basic electronics, I wanted to learn opto electronics. This is almost like being interviewed to become a firefighter when they assign you as a police officer instead. We had no prior warning that they were going to change the program. I am very irritated about that."
