"Doesn't Follow Instructions" problems
Going through school, particularly elementary school, I'd occasionally get on my report card notations that I didn't follow instructions.
I'd have to say, looking back, half the time I didn't understand the instructions. Or more accurately, I understood them differently. There were the odd occasions where I thought the instructions were stupid and I had a better way of doing whatever. But mostly, it would have to be momentary procrastination, or interpreting instructions differently.

This happened to me a lot! In my case, it was mostly that I thought of a better way to do something, so I did. And then got into trouble.

Yes. I got all these on my report cards and I got X's and my brothers got check marks for their behavior on their report card. 99% of everything for me was always improving or needs improvement.
I also got that I had difficulty with change. I was not aware I had that issue then and it actually effected me. I know I hated them then but I didn't know it effected me because I sure didn't get panic attacks and got anxiety over them. I probably didn't do as well and the teachers noticed that and they noticed I only do well if it's a routine and then if they change something in the schedule, I don't do as well so they saw the pattern. I remember they made me uncomfortable then so I would try and get used to it and adjust. I didn't know it was an issue normal people don't have.
I was hyper in school and had a short attention span and I acted younger than my age so I figured that's what "doesn't follow instructions well" was about.
Oh joy.
Not following instructions. It's never 'made a mistake'. Never 'forgot something.'
Nope. It's DELIBERATE DISOBEDIENCE, not following instructions.
Remember, school-bound prisoners, there are no mistakes, only rebellion which is an indicator of sociopathy and will get you marked for suspicion.
But... yeah. Best advice I can give is to follow the directions to the letter as best as possible, and avoid attention.

oh yeah. My grade 3 teacher made it sound like I was doing it on purpose, wilfully.
There was one time that I just wasn't doing some things in P.E. class. And there was a good reason for it, in Grade 3. The P.E. teacher was a Drama teacher, and a bunch of P.E. ended up being lame aft drama crap. You know, like the 'invisible shrinking box and you're trapped inside' nonsense. Those were stupid and had zip to do with P.E. so I just flatout didn't do some of that. I would rather superglue my butt shut than play those silly non-P.E. games. And I am serious.

My God, just remembering P.E. is enough to give nightmares! The girls were sadistic b**s, who liked to play dodge ball. The object of this game was to hurl a very firm basketball at each other, and if you didn't "dodge" it fast enough, you got slammed. With my dyspraxia, I never could get out of the way fast enough. And of course if you cried, that was just grist for the amusement wheel.

I remember in 2nd grade, we'd have to write these "journal" things. The teacher would tell us what to write about, but usually I wouldn't want to. I'd write about something else, then she'd get pissed off at send me to the principal's office. The same b**** also told my parents I needed to be put on ritalin, because I was "out of control".

She probably meant, "Out of HER control." Teachers like that are the bane of creative people's existence.

Yeah, thankfully my parents were smart enough to know that she was a dumb broad and didn't put me on ritalin. They were actually pretty pissed that she sent me to the principal so much. Oh well, it's not like I really missed much. Public education barely teaches you anything.
The ironic thing was she was apparently the "nice" 2nd grade teacher. Back then we got to request what teacher we wanted. My mom told me to ask people who was better, and they all said "Ms.Jesse is so nice! But Mrs.Akins is MEAN!" Haha, boy... was that a bad choice. Mrs.Akins was actually pretty nice, I thought. I almost switched to her class because Ms.Jesse was so awful.
That woman treated me like a do-nothing, no-potential troublemaker. I can't wait to go back to her in a few years after I've become an actuary. I'm seriously going to look her up, and shove it into her face that I make 4-5x more per year than she ever did. No thanks to her of course!
