Hi at school i keep a diary of what is happening around me and was wondering if anyone else does this. Ofcourse the other kids keep asking what I'm writing but they don't seem to enjoy the gift of writing.....

I have made a journal a few times in my life.

I have tried to keep a journal numerous times in my life. However, I always fail, in that I cannot remember to write in it on a daily basis. Perhaps I have some sort of subconscious block, due to my utter inability to 'talk' about myself without being prompted by a specific question.

Yes, I keep a journal on my computer's hard drive. I write in it fairly frequently. I enjoy writing in it, because I can monologue as long as I want, without someone getting offended! :)

Haha, this. I've started a diary who knows how many times. I keep it up for a few days and then I forget.

But it's nice to have the file there on my computer so that if I do feel like rambling on to myself and working things out then it's right there ready for me, where nobody has to see it. :D

tried one of those when i was like 10. wrote an angry at the world entry one day. mom & pops just happend to be nosy and came across it. seemed to think maybe i was potentially suicidal which was absurd and it was all very embarrassing when they too me to a psychologist and i lied through my teeth when i said i wasn't depressed because then they'd just think i was suicidal all the more when really i was only regretting ever writing in that damn little notebook and humiliated to be there.

never tried since.
i have a blog, but it's less about personal ordeals and feelings than it is the very same thing expressed through nicely written poems and innocuous philosophical world&life views.
more leaning towards peoms because i've found it both a creative & pleasing way to vent.
i've even become good at it to some extent if a good many people saying i might consider publishing is any indication.

I do it especially when I'm alone and I feel so down.

I have a diary. Yesterday at school I realised it wasn't in my bag, so I think someone at school has stolen it. I'm terrified that I'm going to be totally humiliated at school on Monday.

But hey. Hopefully they'll move on from whatever embarassing stuff they find out, so I'll only be humiliated for a week or so.

That's horrible! I hope you get it back, though.

I have a diary. I don't write in it daily, but at least once or twice a week. I don't often write about events around me, even when they have a big impact on me. Instead, I write about my internal state, and how the external world affects that. It's very soothing.

I also write lots of other stuff. I know what original poster means that some people don't appreciate writing, and that doesn't stop me. I love to write.

I have kept a journal/diary at certain points in my life. I find it helps with self reflection, and with seeing your own situation from a more logical/objective point of view (if you re-read entries that is).

I have a spiral notebook in which notes from a course in mathematical proofs are interchanged with reflections on the transition from high school to college, the difference between our ideals and reality, how quantum physics can help us understand friendships - all that good stuff. And to think somewhere in all the heavy stuff I try to derive an algorithm that tells you when someone of the opposite sex likes you (of course, ever since, I have found the set of counterexamples that disproves its exact claims).

There's something like one of these a year going back to ninth grade - but, for some reason or another, I just have not bothered this year. Despite the fact there would be a crap-lot to write about.
