I was originally in mathematical physics and I failed a physics and linear algebra course all in one term and now, I have switched to Honours Science.

Anyone else shocked at how math suddenly sucks in university? You never expected it in high school.

yeah, there's definitely a difference. the thing that rather kicked my a**, though, wasn't the math itself, but the ta/professor system. who knew?

it is a lot more applied. taken calc yet? i've never taken linear algebra. i want to say, "try it again!" because sometimes that's what you have to do.

calc isn't that bad actually, I'm in 2nd year and I have already taken three calc courses.

I'm not very good at math either, at least in the classes. I think I have a bit of dyscalculia and/or dysgraphia. Also, my high school algebra teacher was really good at math, but really bad at teaching, according to many of the students. My math professor was very good, although I didn't get the best grade in the class. I got a C and moved on. I think I require someone to do the problems over and over again in order for me to get what they're saying, which is what my college math professor did. Sometimes I just need to see the problem worked, as compared to some teachers who think that you're cheating or not really getting it yourself. I could self-teach myself, but it would not be at the desired pace of college. I'm a bit of a slow learner to say myself, that and I get really distracted and so I could only study small parts at a time. I could work for very long periods of time, though, however strange that sounds.
