I've won an award at school (The Professor Skinner Award For Physics), and i have to go to an awards ceremony after school in 2 weeks to receive it, with a practice a week on the Monday. I have no idea what to expect or what to do. This is the first time i've ever won an award. Can you give me any advice on how to deal with this?

It's so simple, and you don't have to worry.

Your name will be announced after ceremony begins, you will simply take your place in front stage and take your award.

There are some tips that might help you;
*When your name announced, don't go in a super-speedy way
*Just walk, and appear so confident (head: look to front, no ceiling, no floor) (shoulders: don't let theö lie down)
*When the audiance is in front of you, look their faces with a warm smile, and make them think "Wow, who is this genius!"
*When you arrive the place that you will get your award, smile to the person that holds the award, show your gratitude to him, shake his hands, then (if you know each other) kiss his cheeks (and also if other people does the kissing thing), get your award smoothly, but don't completely get it, let the other person still hold it.
*Pose for upcoming photo takers together (don't forget smile, shoulder, head position thing)
*Take your place if there's nothing else

These might help you, and as you can see main key in these events is appearing as a SELF-CONFIDENT 8) person!

BTW congratulations :D ! !!

Walk, don't run.

When I had to accept an award at my old school, I have absolutely no idea what possessed me to think it would be a good idea to sprint onto the stage instead of just walking like a normal person. :roll: :oops: :lol:
