I hate those teachers who demand respect and take half the lesson to do so. Two reasons for this; I like to spend the lesson learning and there are only a small amount of people that I actually respect. I would prefer that they demand that we be polite.

I prefer that they demand not a damn thing. I'll respect them when they earn it, and they sure aren't earning it by demanding respect.

Precisely. If teachers want me to listen to what they have to say, first they must earn my respect. This happens from being generally respectable people (mannerisms, personality, morals) and being smart enough to earn my respect.

While it is annoying when they take half the lesson and so on:
The 'take your coats off while I'm standing here with one on' annoy me as well.

Also, I dislike it when they're like 'If you can't be bothered to learn, why are you here', I don't care who it's adressed to, I just think 'Ummm...because we have to [insert none-too-pleasant-language here.]
