Ok, so this thread does not apply to everyone since not everyone hates schoolwork. but for those of us who hate schoolwork, I'm wondering what is it about schoolwork that we hate? Why do we prefer to watch movies and go on wrongplanet than to do schoolwork? Everytime I start doing schoolwork, I want to do other things. Why do we never want to do schoolwork when we are doing other things?

It would really help me with my university schoolwork if I found out how to enjoy schoolwork.

Heh, try paying for college on your own. It might not make you like schoolwork, BUT it's a great motivator for getting it done... In my case anyway.

That, and frankly people have different learning styles. Schools tend to not customize teaching strategies to the way a student is inclined to learn.

A lot of the rote memorization nonsense is incredibly boring. Other techniques engage the mind more effectively.

In my (limited) experience teaching strategies tend to be determined by the teacher rather than the school.

I learn much better from talented lecturers that emphasize understanding rather than teachers that emphasize memorization, but at the same school, I've had plenty of both kinds!

Ratemyprofessor.com is a good resource to help to avoid bad teachers! Live it, learn it, love it. 8)

In my case too. It's probably the best motivator there is.

I hated schoolwork that I felt wasn't going to be useful after graduation. However I gave exception to Calculus, where I enjoyed repetitious differentiation and integration.

I hate doing school work because they never prove to us why we need to learn this in the future. The only reasons they tell us we need to know the material is because it is on a standardized test or a graduation requirement. That is one thing about public high schools in America that really needs to change.

It's funny, some of the worse rated teachers I've had (I use ratemyteacher.com since I'm still in high school) are my favourites :) And THE worst teacher I've ever had (manipulative and slimey, ew) had a really high rating because students liked his jokes (which I never liked and were often aimed at me)
