So I recently lost my job about a month and a half ago and now I'm struggling to find a new one. I'm trying to keep up my spirits and view my situation with optimism but, as time goes on, I feel I'm going to be "in between jobs" for a long time.

Job searching is one of the very least enjoyable activities on the planet. You only win at it by finally getting employed yet with each failed interview or lost opportunity pushes you get farther and farther from attaining that goal. It's like each interview or skill testing exam is a term paper in college and you're constantly getting an 'F'. And, knowing that another 'F' is another lost chance before the last day of the "semester"? That's the words feeling in the world.

At the beginning of the month I was getting a lot of responses and callbacks, at least 1 per day on average. Now, since Monday, I've gotten 2. With rent due in 4 days, I'm not sure what to do.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do until a job comes my way? Is there something I SHOULD be doing instead of struggle like this?

I've been off the boards for a long time now and only just come back, so I only read this now. How did it go as per work and rent?

I'm a chef and if you aren't proud, there are ALWAYS jobs in the food service industry. You could bus tables or wash dishes. Fast food restaurants often need counter servers. Supermarkets and retailers need people to stick shelves.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not suggesting that you settle for a menial job ... but if working a job like this helps with putting food on the table and keeping a roof over your head, why not go for it?

If you need some quick cash, you could also sell plasma to a blood bank.
