This afternoon, I went to one of my school computer labs and logged onto a computer to work on a class project and I also in the middle of checking me e-mail when someone came up and asked me how long I would be on the computer. I said for a good two hours since I had a project. Yet, he told me further than I had to move to another computer because he had said that he saved his homework on there.

As a result, I told the assistant that what he had done and moved to another computer.

How should I handle being bullied like this in the future?

That's just odd . . . when i was at college, we HAD to have a disc or other portable storage because the info on the computers was wiped weekly (he might have been jerking you around since that computer might have been in an ideal location for him to do something he may not have been allowed to do). Find out if they wipe their computers routinely, and if someone does that again, tell them they wiped the computers so whatever they saved is probably gone (wouldnt be lying if that's the case). Otherwise, you were there first, and if someone else needs it, they can go to another or wait . . . all things in a library are first come, first serve. However, make sure you inform a library assistant that you may be on a machine for a few hours as well . . . just in case. Once on, no one, and i mean NO ONE has the right to force you to move.

He had a pretty sketchy sound in his voice which made me wonder what and why he decided to selfishly kick me off the computer like that. He also didn't mention to me that he was in a big hurry to get his homework done since he had a class as a specific time. Again, I did tell the assistant and she talked to him about it in private..

Sounds fishy. All the school computers where I am at get wiped nightly.

Do not even look at him then say F' you then go back to work ignoring him. If he persits in harrassing you tell him you have Aspergers and he is harrassing you and you will contact campus security to have him removed from the computer room. Threaten him with a restraining order or to sue the campus if they do nothing about this. If your a little guy or a pacifist just ignore him if he touches you even to tap you on the shoulder that is assault and you can call campus security on him. If he tries to go to whom ever is in charge of the lab to force you off save what you are working on then locate his file and erase it before you are forced off, hell if he is trying to make your life difficult make his life worst, Screw him. If he is not responsible enough to back-up his work he is obviously too lazy to care or that serious of a student. I learned early on in my life if you take a beating without fighting back you will catch more beatings down the road. My first two years of high school were a living hell because I did not stand up for myself. Once I started fighting back they started to leave me alone. I may of gotten into trouble for it but I regained a lot of self-respect and the trouble was nothig I could not handle  .

There is a rocker switch on the upper back of the computer, specifically meant to be pressed once the hijacker has taken the machine from you and has begun working for a while.

Telling a bully you have Aspergers' is probably not a good idea, nor is it really relevant to what is going on. The guy is being a dick, plain and simple, and needs to be told off.

Of course if he's not being a complete dick about it and honestly needs his work, tell him to come back with a USB drive so he can get it without kicking you off. Otherwise, he's out of luck for relying on the school's storage.

Get your own computer and if the bully harasses you again, kick his ass.

Tell him that he is supposed to save his work to a removable drive and his lack of planning does not make an emergency on your part.

+1

Most all computers have a way to get information off of them. If his file was on the local HDD, then you could access it and send it to his diskette or flash drive without getting off the system.

The guy had no right to tell you to move. Too bad he saved his work on there you were on the computer first.

Tell him to go away and save his homework to a portable drive in the future.

You should tell him you can e-mail it to him so he can access it from any computer, and that he should carry a flash drive on him and save his work there.

1. tell him he is a moron for not saving his work to a usb drive.

2. If he persists is bothering you scream the phrase "You want me to touch your WHAT?" as loud as possible.

next time something like that happens, ask him where they put the work they were doing, then promptly go to the location, delete his/her work, and empty the recycle bin so he no longer has an excuse to bother you about it. Remind him that he is supposed to save work on an external device, not the computer hard drive, and that you were simply doing the library a favor by cleaning up some of the garbage. If he throws a fit, report him to campus security.

This is great idea, very frustrating for the dope you know someone like that is not going to be constantly saving his data..

If he knows you have Aspergers then continues to torment you then he is knowingly discriminating against you and your job/school can do something about it.
