For those of you who have aides in school, what do they do to help you? How did you arrange to have one? Was it difficult? Is it hard for you to talk with your aide and ask for help?

I'm considering this possibility right now, short of dropping out of school so I'm really needing input.

What grade are you in Jaeska? I have a resource teacher. My parents arranged it with the school because of my Asperger's Syndrome.

don't drop out of school completely!! ! it can really screw up your future.

as for an aide, they could help you. i had one until i was in 6th grade. they did help me get on track, but i hated being viewed by others as a ret*d sped. if you don't care about that, and you feel you really need the help, go for it! it can be really useful. or maybe you can just turn to the sped dept. when you need some assistance with school. i'm sure they could do something.

IEP's, Aides, Computers... They had none of that in late 80's and early 90's when I was in grade school.

The most third party attention I got was weekly counseling sessions with the school psychologists where we'd sit down and discuss what I did right and wrong.

When I was in junior high school, the school wanted to put me into the chapter 1 program for troubled and "differently abled" children, but my evaluation said I wasn't stupid enough to gain entry.

In high school, I had adapted to the point where I was able to get done what I needed to in order to graduate, but there were some close calls along the way.

If they have services there to help you, by all means, USE THEM!

I had to fend for myself along with everyone else, and I somehow managed to do it.
