Did and still does. Costed me my allowance to higher education and fast-learner classes.

Yes. When I was a fairly happy child in elementary school, I got As and Bs. When I got into junior high, my grades suffered and I got Cs and Ds because I was struggling with depression, anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Same with IdahoRose, I began failing classes in 7th and 8th grade because of manic depression. If only if I could go back there and make it so I took meds...

It contributed to a failed semester in the 2nd year of my degree. I count picking myself up from that and going on to achieve excellent grades in postgraduate study as among my greatest achievements.

Good for you. I pulled myself completely out of by the time I got my AA, decided come hell or hell fire I wasn't going to let it get me down. I got a 3.2 GPA by the time I had my Bachelors, which isn't very high, but I'm still proud, and I'll be damned if I don't get a 4.0 in grad school, which I'm in the process of planning.

Oh yes... It caused me to drop out of college twice. Thankfully with meds I'm much more stable now. :)

when i'm wracked with angst, anxiety and anything else which competes with important things for neural resources, the important things fall by the wayside.

For me it was sophomore year, and even junior college. Jesus ******** Christ I wish could live it over again with the strength I have now.

Yeah. From grade 6 to community college. The fact that I could always help other people with their schoolwork but could never excel in mine only made things more difficult than they already were.

Yup. My anxiety and bouts of depression keep me from going back to school. I don't need to, since I have a BA and a master's equivalent (70 credits but no degree) I shouldn't have anything to prove, I just want to enjoy learning something new.

I have done a lot in the many years since then (in the arts) but giving up my first major in the sciences because I thought I was too dumb is one of my biggest regrets.

In Elementary and Middle School, I did okay or so so. In High School, I got kicked out of mainstream classes, because I was suffering severe depression and I never really cared till then. As I got into community college, (note: I overcame depression), but still, I struggled academically as I was totally unprepraed for college due to the fact that I messed up my high school years totally and almost got kicked out for having under a 0.5 GPA. I pulled approximately a 2.8-2.9 last semester for the very 1st time actually applying myself in my life after so many years and hopefully it will eventually go up to a 3.5+GPA for 4-year university transfer credits. Compare to K-12 years, I had poor social skills and was a good target of bullies, but now I have actually socially matured and am well liked by my peers. Even though I am much less talkative compare to past years though.

Depression and confusion have been my almost lifelong companions. At this point I have learned to reel them in, to trap the professor (not literally of course) and really talk and get to know them and vice versa. I was so often depressed and lonely that even counseling did not help during high school/

I know, right? I found that counseling was totally useless for what I was up against. They deal with the average angsty teenager, not the teenager baffled by autism.
