Or is there a reasonable accommodation to be made?

I have to ask, why did the disability suddenly come up? I would think that if this person had exam anxiety, it would have occurred long before the final test to get a PhD. Personally, I think the professors should decide what the accommodations are and if they and the student cannot agree, then a tribunal should be set up and each side gets to represent its case. The dean sounds like he is power hungry over his professors and it may backfire if the professors refuse to teach any of the courses or work with graduate students.

I think the professors came up with a reasonable accommodation and the dean is overriding them.

What? Test/exam anxiety is a psychiatric condition? Well, I sure haven't seen it being listed in the DSM. And don't all of us get anxious during exams/tests?

Pssh.

I looked at the piece. You cannot, says my U experience be sure of facts from that, bjut -

1. Test anxiety is and yes that needs to be addresseded and allowed for. I have done so, would do so again.

2. The student needs to fulfill the normal requirements - mode can be varied, standard should not.

3.Maybe in math, but in most areas exams really have no plce in my opinion except at the preliminary qualification stage.

4. No academic should be suspended for simply protesting a wrong move.
