Is there anyone else here that is absolutely awful at creative writing, and writing essays? My English class in 9th grade was the only class I've ever failed, and it looks like I'll fail English this semester too. I just hate writing essays, I just can't do them. I used to be able to write them, and didn't do too horribly, even if I had to sit there for more than half the class trying to think of what I wanted to write. Before I started writing an essay, I had to figure out everything I wanted to say in it, or else I just couldn't write it. But now I just can't do it at all. It could be a psychological thing, I don't know, but it feels like it. And that coupled with my seemingly way under-developed right brain doesn't help either. I am very analytical, not good at writing. I won't say I'm not creative, because I am, but only with things that I like. Also, I am very bad at understanding hidden meanings in books and poetry, and I always take things very literally, and I always have trouble understand and using idioms, which is a common Aspie trait. But it seems most people here are great at creative writing, whereas it is the thing I am worst at.

Is anyone else here like me?

My favorite poem is The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe, even though I don't understand it all. :D

Language Arts has always been one of my best subjects throughout school. My performance on essays depended on the required content, though. If it's on a subject that's vague to me, then I'll have significant trouble thinking of things to write. However, if I have a lot to say on the matter, then it's pretty easy for me. Sometimes, I might even exceed the required amount of writing.

I love that poem. I actually wrote an essay for it in my dual credit english class.
